Experimental Diabetic Glomerulosclerosis
Diabetes, 1956With the advent of adequate replacement therapy for diabetes mellitus and the subsequent prolongation of life, degenerative vascular disease has become a problem of paramount importance. Unfortunately the study of degenerative vascular disease is complicated by its chronicity.

Unsuspected Diabetic Glomerulosclerosis
Southern Medical Journal, 1976Six patients without overt diabetes mellitus underwent renal biopsy for suspected glomerulonephritis. All were demonstrated to have diabetic glomerulosclerosis and subsequently were found to have abnormal glucose tolerance tests. Electron microscopy was critical in making the correct diagnosis in five of six patients. The reported cases represent 3% of

Idiopathic nodular glomerulosclerosis
American Journal of Kidney Diseases, 1999Idiopathic nodular glomerulosclerosis is an unusual entity with light microscopic and ultrastructural features similar to those of nodular diabetic glomerulosclerosis but without evidence of abnormal glucose metabolism. We report 2 patients whose renal biopsies showed nodular glomerulosclerosis with afferent and efferent arteriolosclerosis, glomerular ...

Hyperfiltration and glomerulosclerosis
Seminars in Nephrology, 2003Nearly 70 years ago, the association between reduction in renal mass and subsequent glomerular injury was established. Later the pathologic changes were attributed to adaptive hemodynamic changes in the residual nephrons. This relationship seems to exist in a number of experimental animal species, as well as humans.

Focal Segmental Glomerulosclerosis
Advances in Kidney Disease and HealthFocal segmental glomerular sclerosis (FSGS) is a histological lesion characterized by sclerosis in sections (segmental) of some glomeruli (focal) in association with podocyte injury. Historically, FSGS has often been characterized as a disease, but it is a heterogeneous entity based on etiology, clinical course, and therapeutic approach.
