Bioenergetic Materials for Tissue Regeneration: Modulating Metabolism to Promote Cellular Anabolism

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Bioenergetic materials (BEMs) modulate cellular metabolism to promote tissue regeneration. Their principal mechanisms of action include metabolic substrate supplementation, metabolic enzyme modulation, organelle transfer, electrical current regulation, redox homeostasis modulation, and oxygen tension modulation.

Glucocorticoid Action and Resistance in Asthma [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
In the past decade it has become clear that asthmatic patients who are clinically unresponsive, or “resistant” to glucocorticoid therapy may have T cells which manifest resistance to glucocorticoid inhibition.

Improvement of glucocorticoid sensitivity and attenuation of pulmonary allergic reactions by exogenous supplementation with betaine in HDM and LPS‐induced allergic mouse model

open access: yesClinical and Translational Allergy
Background Childhood asthma is a heterogeneous disease that exhibits different characteristics and varying severity; however, the metabolite alterations underlying the difference in asthma severity, especially in severe asthma, are not well understood ...

T‐Cell Remodeling in Renal Fibrosis: From Acute Injury to Chronic Kidney Disease

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This Review presents renal fibrosis as a sequence of overlapping T‐cell programs, from chemokine‐guided recruitment and metabolic activation to maladaptive polarization, tertiary lymphoid structure formation, tissue residency, exhaustion, and senescence.

Precision identification and targeted therapy for neutrophilic asthma: from molecular mechanisms to clinical translation

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology
Neutrophilic asthma represents a distinct inflammatory phenotype characterized by sputum neutrophilia (≥61% neutrophils), glucocorticoid resistance, and more severe disease course compared to eosinophilic asthma.

LAPTM5 Downregulation‐Driven VAMP8 Phosphorylation Impairs Autophagosome‐Lysosome Fusion and Aggravates Septic Acute Lung Injury

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
LAPTM5 functions as a critical molecular scaffold bridging PGAM5 and VAMP to facilitate PGAM5‐mediated dephosphorylation of VAMP8. This cascade promotes autophagosome‐lysosome fusion, restores impaired autophagic flux, and clears damaged mitochondria, thereby mitigating cellular oxidative stress and systemic inflammation.

Enhanced hippocampal long-term potentiation and spatial learning in aged 11ß-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase type 1 knock-out mice [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Glucocorticoids are pivotal in the maintenance of memory and cognitive functions as well as other essential physiological processes including energy metabolism, stress responses, and cell proliferation.

Yoda1‐Functionalized Nanozymes Coordinate Piezo1 Activation and Mitochondrial Protection to Reprogram the Diabetic Osteoimmune Micromilieu and Promote Vascularized Bone Repair

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Diabetic bone defects remain a critical clinical challenge. A 3D‐printed BCPG‐MF@Y scaffold, embedding Yoda1‐functionalized manganese dioxide‐ferritin nanozymes, scavenges mtROS, suppresses the cGAS–STING pathway, and reverses cellular senescence, while Yoda1 activates Piezo1 to direct BMSCs fate to synergistically reprogram the osteoimmune ...

Supranational surveillance of antimicrobial resistance: The legacy of the last decade and proposals for the future

open access: yes, 2010
Antimicrobial resistance among clinically important bacteria is widely acknowledged as a major global public health threat. A decade ago, several supranational surveillance initiatives were introduced. Few of them are still ongoing, and only one features
