Macrophage and Preeclampsia: Macrophage Polarization Imbalance at the Maternal‐Fetal Interface

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Laboratory Analysis, EarlyView.
The development and progression of preeclampsia (PE) are associated with immune‐inflammatory responses induced by placental dysfunction. The polarization imbalance of decidual macrophages, particularly the increase in M1 polarization, exacerbates placental inflammation.

Corticosterone and Mitochondrial Efficiency Are Associated With Changes in DNA Oxidative Damage During an Acute Stress Response in Leach's Storm‐Petrels (Hydrobates leucorhous)

open access: yesJournal of Experimental Zoology Part A: Ecological and Integrative Physiology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The ability of organisms to effectively respond to challenges is critical for survival. We investigated how an acute stressor affected corticosterone, mitochondrial function, and DNA oxidative damage in a wild population of Leach's storm‐petrels (Hydrobates leucorhous).

Influence of rheumatoid arthritis on peri‐implant diseases: A longitudinal retrospective clinical and radiographic evaluation

open access: yesJournal of Periodontology, EarlyView.
Abstract Background To investigate the effect of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) on the incidence of peri‐implantitis (PI) and peri‐implant mucositis (PIM). Methods Radiographic and clinical chart reviews were conducted to measure the probing depth (PD), bleeding on probing, and marginal bone loss (MBL) around the implants to diagnose peri‐implant diseases ...

Inflammation following childhood maltreatment is associated with episodic memory decline in older adults

open access: yesJournal of Traumatic Stress, EarlyView.
Abstract Childhood maltreatment is recognized as a risk factor for cognitive decline in adulthood. However, the mechanisms underlying this association, particularly the role of systemic inflammation, remain understudied. To address this gap, this study investigated the indirect effects of inflammation on the associations between childhood maltreatment ...
