Abstract Nutrient dynamics in headwater streams are governed by benthic and hyporheic biofilms, with carbon (C) : nitrogen (N) : phosphorus (P) ratios driving the heterotrophic microbial biofilm development through nutrient limitation. Furthermore, heterotrophic responses to changes in C : N : P ratios are probably modulated by autotrophic responses to

In Situ Gels for Nasal Delivery: Formulation, Characterization and Applications
Drug delivery through the nasal route offers many advantages, but is hampered by a number of challenges, such as the short drug retention time caused by mucociliary clearance. In situ forming gels, which undergo a sol‐to‐gel transition with specific triggers at the site of action, present real opportunities in this field.

This paper presents a facile method for the conversion of N‐acetylglucosamine (NAG) to 3‐acetamido‐5‐acetylfuran (3A5AF), a potential platform chemical, within protic ionic liquid systems. Reaction optimization, 3A5AF isolation, green metrics and the recyclability and scalability of selected systems are discussed.
