Oral Glucose Tolerance Test for Universal screening for Gestational Diabetes Mellitus

open access: yesJournal of Nepal Health Research Council
Background: Gestational Diabetes Mellitus increased almost 30% in many countries, including underdeveloped countries and same in Nepal. Hospital-based studies in Nepal reported Gestational Diabetes Mellitus cases, with prevalence 2.48% in 2010 to 4.47 ...

Different pathogenesis of glucose intolerance in two subtypes of primary aldosteronism: Aldosterone‐producing adenoma and idiopathic hyperaldosteronism

open access: yesJournal of Diabetes Investigation, 2020
Aims/Introduction An increased risk of diabetes mellitus has been reported in primary aldosteronism, but the pathogenesis of glucose intolerance between the primary aldosteronism subtypes remains unclear.

Engineered Microfluidic Organoid Systems: New Paradigms for Menopause Mechanism Research and Personalized Medicine

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
This review explores the integration of microfluidic technology with organoid systems as an innovative platform for studying menopausea complex multi‐organ condition. By enabling precise simulation of inter‐organ communication and hormone responses, microfluidic organoids offer a physiologically relevant model for investigating menopausal syndrome and ...

Metabolic Comparison of One-Anastomosis Gastric Bypass, Single-Anastomosis Duodenal-Switch, Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass, and Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy in Rat [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Background One-anastomosis gastric bypass (OAGB) and single-anastomosis duodenal switch (SADS) have become increasingly popular weight loss strategies. However, data directly comparing the effectiveness of these procedures with Roux-en-Y gastric bypass ...

Vitamin D Signaling through Induction of Paneth Cell Defensins Maintains Gut Microbiota and Improves Metabolic Disorders and Hepatic Steatosis in Animal Models. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Metabolic syndrome (MetS), characterized as obesity, insulin resistance, and non-alcoholic fatty liver diseases (NAFLD), is associated with vitamin D insufficiency/deficiency in epidemiological studies, while the underlying mechanism is poorly addressed.

Sialic Acid Sensing via Molecularly Imprinted Polymer on Laser‐Induced Graphene

open access: yesAdvanced Sensor Research, EarlyView.
Sialic acid is an important biomarker for oral and overall health. Salivary levels of sialic acid are linked with oral cancer and other diseases. We develop a point‐of‐care sensor for sialic acid, based on molecularly imprinted aminophenylboronic acid electropolymerized onto laser‐induced graphene.

Indole‐3‐Propionic Acid Improves Alveolar Development Impairment via Targeting VAMP8‐mediated SNAREs Complex Formation in Bronchopulmonary Dysplasia

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study aims to evaluate the impact of the tryptophan‐derived metabolite indole‐3‐propionic acid (IPA) on lung development and autophagic flux. IPA alleviates hyperoxia‐induced alveolar arrest by promoting autophagosome‐lysosome fusion via inhibition of VAMP8 phosphorylation, which is suggestive of a promising therapeutic target of BPD.

A forage-only diet alters the metabolic response of horses in training [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Most athletic horses are fed a high-starch diet despite the risk of health problems. Replacing starch concentrate with high-energy forage would alleviate these health problems, but could result in a shift in major substrates for muscle energy supply from
