Exploring the Antidiabetic and Lipid‐Lowering Properties of Nepali Wild Turmeric (Curcuma aromatica): A Potential Natural Remedy

open access: yesFood Safety and Health, EarlyView.
Curcuma aromatica rhizome ethanolic extracts (400 mg/kg) showed hypoglycemic and hypolipidemic activities in alloxan‐induced diabetic rats, comparable to standard drugs in reducing blood glucose levels. The extracts reduced serum cholesterol and triglycerides, increased HDL levels, and prevented weight loss.

Maternal gut microbiota‐derived daidzein prevents osteoporosis in female offspring following prenatal prednisone exposure

open access: yesiMeta, EarlyView.
Prenatal prednisone therapy (PPT)/prenatal prednisone exposure (PPE) induces long bone dysplasia, reduced peak bone mass (PBM), and increased osteoporosis susceptibility in female offspring. Maternal gut microbiota metabolite daidzein (DAI) mediates PPE‐induced osteoporosis susceptibility in female adult offspring.

Bioactivity-guided isolation and purification of α-glucosidase inhibitor, 6-O-D-glycosides, from Tinta Cão grape pomace

open access: yesJournal of Functional Foods, 2016
Bioactivity-guided fractionation methods were used to identify and purify active components in Tinta Cão grape pomace extract (GPE) that inhibit intestinal α-glucosidases.

Temporal response patterns of human gut microbiota to dietary fiber

open access: yesiMeta, EarlyView.
In this study, 19 overweight participants, with or without type 2 diabetes mellitus, underwent 14 days of normal‐diet observation followed by 14 days of dietary fiber intervention. Fecal samples and continuous glucose monitoring data were collected daily throughout the 28‐day period.

SynCom‐mediated herbicide degradation activates microbial carbon metabolism in soils

open access: yesiMeta, EarlyView.
Extensive herbicide residues in the black soil of northeastern China are considered a significant agricultural pollution threat, yet effective bioremediation of this complex and persistent mixture remains a challenge. We provided an herbicide degradation and ecosystem regulation model of SynCom in soil. We also demonstrated the effectiveness of SynCom “

Connecting the soil health–water quality nexus under surface‐irrigated conservation tillage

open access: yesJournal of Environmental Quality, EarlyView.
Abstract Intense tillage degrades soil health, worsens soil structure, and accelerates nutrient and sediment transport to vulnerable water bodies. Unfortunately, few studies have measured both soil health and water quality under conservation tillage, particularly in semi‐arid furrow‐irrigated fields, limiting our understanding of tillage impacts in ...
