This review reconsiders the amyloid cascade by placing lipid dynamics at its core. It shows that free lipids, governed by critical micellar concentration, act as pathological chaperones that redirect amyloid aggregation toward membrane‐damaging species.

Pharmacogenomic (PGx) information has the potential to support the safe and effective use of medicines, yet there is uncertainty about how this information can be best communicated to patients. Summaries of product characteristics (SmPCs) and patient information leaflets (PILs) for all UK‐approved medicines with strong evidence supporting a PGx ...

New aminocyclitols as modulators of glucosylceramide metabolism [PDF]
A series of 13 aminocyclitol derivatives belonging to two different families is described. Their configuration is governed by the regio- and stereocontrolled epoxide opening of a suitably protected conduritol-B epoxide. Studies on several glycosyl processing enzymes indicate that some of them are good inhibitors of glucosylceramide hydrolase.

The human GBA1 gene encodes glucocerebrosidase (GCase), a lysosomal enzyme that hydrolyzes glucosylceramides. Variants in GBA1 and reduced GCase activity have been linked to Parkinson’s disease and Gaucher’s disease.

Adipose TSHB in Humans and Serum TSH in Hypothyroid Rats Inform About Cellular Senescence
Background/Aims: Thyroid hormones have been recently linked to senescence and longevity. Given the recent description of TSHB mRNA in human adipose tissue (AT), we aimed to investigate the relationship between local AT TSH and adipose tissue senescence ...

Comprehensive understanding of how diverse PGPR strains enhance the rhizosphere microenvironment remains a considerable challenge. Here, we provide experimental evidence that a functionally synergistic composite microbial formulation can markedly enhance growth performance and improve the quality attributes in Angelica sinensis.

Abstract Ceramide deficiency in the stratum corneum (SC) is a key etiological factor in atopic dermatitis (AD). To clarify the direct role of SC ceramide depletion in impairing SC barrier and water‐holding functions and in initiating AD‐like skin symptoms and disease‐specific molecular alterations, we generated Tg mice overexpressing a mutant form of ...
