Geminivirus C2 protein represses genes involved in sulphur assimilation and this effect can be counteracted by jasmonate treatment [PDF]
Geminiviruses are plant viruses that infect a broad range of crops and cause extensive losses worldwide, having an important economic impact. C2, a multifunctional pathogenicity factor encoded by geminiviruses, has been recently shown to suppress the ...

Glutathione reductase activity with an oxidized methylated glutathione analog
The activity of glutathione reductase with an unnatural analog of oxidized glutathione was explored. The analog, L-γ-glutamyl-2-methyl-L-cysteinyl-glycine disulfide, places an additional methyl group on the alpha position of each of the central cysteine residues, which significantly increases steric bulk near the disulfide bond.

Arabidopsis thaliana dehydroascorbate reductase 2 : conformational flexibility during catalysis [PDF]
Dehydroascorbate reductase (DHAR) catalyzes the glutathione (GSH)-dependent reduction of dehydroascorbate and plays a direct role in regenerating ascorbic acid, an essential plant antioxidant vital for defense against oxidative stress.

24-Epibrassinolide Mediated Changes in Photosynthetic pigments and Antioxidative Defence System of Radish Seedlings under Cadmium and Mercury Stress [PDF]
The present work was conducted to study the effects of 24-EBL on photosynthetic pigments (total chlorophyll, chl a, chl b, carotenoid, anthocyanin and flavonoid content) and activities of antioxidative enzymes (guaiacol peroxidase, catalase, superoxide ...

SLC7A11 frequently migrates faster in SDS‐PAGE. The present study found that the high hydrophobicity of SLC7A11 causes its anomalous migration in SDS‐PAGE with a low concentration of acrylamide gel. Replacing isoleucine with asparagine reduced hydrophobicity and restored its normal migration at 55 kDa, revealing the role of hydrophobicity and gel ...

Fluoride Increases Superoxide Production and Impairs the Respiratory Chain in ROS 17/2.8 Osteoblastic Cells [PDF]
It is known that fluoride produces oxidative stress. Inflammation in bone tissue and an impairment of the respiratory chain of liver have been described in treatments with fluoride. Whether the impairment of the respiratory chain and oxidative stress are

The stability of 3 transmembrane and 4 transmembrane human vitamin K epoxide reductase models [PDF]
3 transmembrane and 4 transmembrane helices models are suggested for the human vitamin K epoxide reductase (VKOR). In this study, we investigate the stability of the human 3 transmembrane/4 transmembrane VKOR models employing a coarse-grained normal mode analysis and molecular dynamics simulation.
