Sustainable polyurethane coatings derived from alkyds of Camelina oil monoglycerides
This study presents the use of immobilized lipase for a low‐temperature glycerolysis reaction to produce monoglycerides. Monoglycerides were then reacted with dibasic acids to produce alkyd diols. The produced alkyd diols were incorporated into polyurethane formulations and were applied on metal substrates.

Abstract BACKGROUND The transesterification of butteroil has been shown to alter its lipid chemistry and thus alter the crystallization of the fat. The reaction kinetics and resulting crystallization of the butteroil differ depending on the nature of the catalyst used.

Herein, we produced biodiesel using nonedible and poisonous Phyllanthus maderaspatensis oil seeds, which have the highest seed oil content (35%), coupled with a lower free fatty acid content (0.87 mg/KOH), making them an ideal candidate for producing biodiesel.

Liquid‐Liquid Phase Equilibrium of Glycerolysis Precursors: Experimental and Modeling Study
Glycerol and oleic acid are mutually immiscible components. Their rigorous reaction produces glycerol esters and water. Such mutual immiscibility of glycerol and free fatty acids limits glycerolysis, a reaction capable of upgrading waste‐derived oils. The glycerol solubility in the fatty phase increases when glycerol esters are added to the immiscible ...

A Review of Stochastic Optimization Algorithms Applied in Food Engineering
Mathematical models that represent food processing operations are characterized by the nonlinearity of their dynamic behavior with possible discrete events, the existence of several variables of interest that are usually distributed in space, and the presence of nonlinear constraints.

Glycerol carbonate synthesis via Zn(OBu)2/AlCl2(OBu) initiated-glycerolysis of urea
Glycerol carbonate (4-hydroxymethyl-1,3-dioxolane-2-one) was efficiently synthesized from glycerolysis of urea initiated by Zn(OBu)2/Al(OBu)Cl2. The zinc-aluminum complex mixture was prepared from zinc chloride (ZnCl2) and aluminum tri-sec-butylate (Al ...
