The Factors Involved in Plant–Insect–Microbe Interactions Expanded: Genome Analysis and Description of Frigoribacterium adelgis sp. nov.

open access: yesEnvironmental Microbiology Reports, Volume 18, Issue 1, February 2026.
Aerobic Actinobacteria belonging to the genus Frigoribacterium were isolated from adelgid Adelges (Aphrastasia) pectinatae collected from a Korean fir tree. Genomic analysis showed that these bacteria encode a range of factors that may be involved in the interactions between Frigoribacterium strains, adelgids and/or Korean fir trees.

Skin Lipid–Microbe Interplay Links Staphylococcus hominis to Barrier Control in Adult Atopic Dermatitis

open access: yesAllergy, Volume 81, Issue 2, Page 454-467, February 2026.
This study investigates mutual interaction of skin microbes and surface lipids in AD using the advanced method of shotgun lipidomics with ultra‐broad coverage of lipids and 16S amplicon sequencing of tape strips taken from lesional and non‐lesional AD and healthy controls.

Expression of CD38 on resting peripheral iNKT cells defines an immature subpopulation with distinct functionality in humans

open access: yesImmunology &Cell Biology, Volume 104, Issue 2, Page 109-124, February 2026.
In this study, we characterize a distinct subpopulation of undifferentiated invariant natural killer T (iNKT) cells in the peripheral blood of healthy adults, which are characterized by CD38 expression in a resting state. This CD38+ subset closely resembles iNKT cells from cord blood and thymus, exhibiting a unique cytokine profile and alterations in ...
