Antiviral agents targeting glycans on dengue virus E-glycoprotein
Expert Review of Anti-infective Therapy, 2011The molecular recognition of dendritic cell-specific intercellular adhesion molecule 3-grabbing nonintegrin (DC-SIGN) with arthropod-derived N-glycans on E-glycoprotein is essential for dengue virus (DENV) infection in humans. Therefore, the specific interaction of DC-SIGN with N-glycans on E-glycoprotein is a promising target for development of virus ...

A Chimeric Antibody to Varicella-Zoster Virus Glycoprotein E
Hybridoma, 2005Varicella-Zoster virus (VZV) immune globulin (VZIG) derived from pooled human serum is currently used in immunotherapy of VZV-associated complications of chickenpox and shingles. We developed a mouse-human chimeric antibody against a VZV glycoprotein E (gE) epitope as a safer replacement for VZIG.

Glycoprotein E (gE) of bovine herpesvirus 1 (BHV1) forms a complex with glycoprotein I (gI) and plays an important role in cell-to-cell spread mechanisms of the virus, but is not essential for propagation of the virus. To study the antigenic variability of BHV1 glycoprotein E, a set of six well characterised monoclonal antibodies (MAbs) was established

Epitope-specific antibody response against glycoprotein E of pseudorabies virus
Clinical Diagnostic Laboratory Immunology, 1994In this study we investigated the epitope-specific antibody response against glycoprotein E (gE) of pseudorabies virus. Epitope-specific antibody responses were investigated by enzyme-linked immunoperoxidase monolayer assays. In a vaccinated crossbred pig population, most pigs responded to antigenic domain E and to a lesser degree to antigenic domains ...

Immunological characterisation of the rubella E 1 glycoprotein
Archives of Virology, 1986Three epitopes have been identified on rubella virion envelope polypeptide E 1 using monoclonal antibodies. Antibodies to two of the epitopes, E 1EP1 and E 1EP2, show both haemagglutination inhibition and neutralization activities whereas antibodies to the remaining epitope, E 1EP3, show neutralizing activity only.

Epitope mapping of dengue 1 virus E glycoprotein using monoclonal antibodies
Archives of Virology, 1995Ten monoclonal antibodies (MAbs) were raised against dengue 1 (DEN 1, Hawaii) virus E glycoprotein. Specificity of the MAbs was tested by ELISA and immunofluorescence. Eight were DEN 1 type-specific, one was DEN group-reactive (DGR) and one was flavivirus cross-reactive (FCR).

Biosynthesis and interaction of glycoproteins E and I of canine herpesvirus
Virus Research, 1999In cells infected with canine herpesvirus (CHV), the mature form of glycoprotein E (gE) had a molecular weight of 94 kDa, and that of glycoprotein I (gI) had a broad range of molecular weights of 55-62 kDa. gE and gI formed a complex like gE and gI of other alphaherpesviruses.

Dimerization of beta(2)-glycoprotein I (beta(2)-GPI) by autoantibodies is thought to trigger the clinical manifestations observed in the antiphospholipid syndrome. Arterial thrombosis, a frequently occurring clinical manifestation of the antiphospholipid syndrome, is a process in which platelets play a crucial role. Previous work has shown that binding

One of the consequences of equine herpesvirus 1 (EHV-1) infection in the natural host is a neurological disease that can lead to paralysis. The pathology associated with EHV-1-induced neurological disease includes vasculitis of the small blood vessels within the central nervous system and subsequent damage to the surrounding neural tissue.

A pseudorabies virus (PRV) mutant with deletions in genes for glycoprotein I (gI) and glycoprotein E (gE) was constructed and evaluated as a candidate vaccine strain for its protective by virulent wildtype (wt) PRV Ea strain challenge in pigs. Transfer plasmid pIESE was constructed and co-transfected with PRV genome into IBRS-2 cells to generate a ...
