Investigating the functionality and antigenicity of chimeric lyssavirus glycoproteins and their neutralisation profiles

open access: yes, 2013
Rabies, the archetypal lyssavirus, is one of the most feared viruses known to man and globally, is the cause of more than 50,000 deaths per year. Alongside rabies virus, numerous related lyssaviruses exist that are also capable of causing fatal clinical ...

The role of the lectin VIP36 in the early secretory pathway [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Lectins are of emerging importance for quality control and intracellular transport of glycoproteins in mammalian cells. One of the most prominent lectins involved in intracellular transport is ERGIC-53, which belongs to the family of L-type lectins ...

Halobacterial flagellins are sulfated glycoproteins

open access: yes, 1985
The cell-surface glycoprotein of Halobacteria contains oligosaccharides of the type Glc4----1GlcA4----1GlcA4----1GlcA (where GlcA indicates glucuronic acid) with a sulfate group attached to each of the GlcA residues.

Identification of Chemoresistance-Related Cell-Surface Glycoproteins in Leukemia Cells and Functional Validation of Candidate Glycoproteins

open access: yes, 2016
Chemoresistance remains the most significant obstacle to successful chemotherapy for leukemia, and its exact mechanism is still unknown. In this work, we used the cell-surface capturing method together with quantitative proteomics to investigate ...

Bacterial Glycoproteins

open access: yes, 2002
115-119A large number of glycoprotein s are distributed in eukaryotic cells and their details are well documented. However, knowledge pertaining to prokaryotic glycoproteins is comparatively rare.

Spatiotemporal Drug Delivery via a Neonatal Spinal Cord ECM Hydrogel for Biomimetic Microenvironment Remodeling After Spinal Cord Injury

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A biomimetic hydrogel derived from neonatal spinal cord ECM (DNSCM) delivers LAMB2 protein and ISP peptide to remodel the inhibitory injury microenvironment. The system sustains drug release, upregulates pro‐regenerative LAMB2, downregulates inhibitory CSPG, and promotes axonal regeneration.
