Predicting O-GlcNAcylation Sites in Mammalian Proteins with Transformers and RNNs Trained with a New Loss Function [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
Glycosylation, a protein modification, has multiple essential functional and structural roles. O-GlcNAcylation, a subtype of glycosylation, has the potential to be an important target for therapeutics, but methods to reliably predict O-GlcNAcylation sites had not been available until 2023; a 2021 review correctly noted that published models were ...

Engineering antibodies with cancer‐associated binding sites

open access: yesBMEMat, EarlyView.
This review describes antibodies that perform direct/indirect roles in cancer treatment by binding to effective targets and discusses how antibodies kill tumors and modulate tumor microenvironment through these targets. The classification of expression systems for antibody production is summarized to guide appropriate selection based on different ...

Characterization of ultrasonically extracted flaxseed polysaccharide gum and assessing its lipid‐lowering potential in a rat model

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 11, Issue 1, Page 137-147, January 2023., 2023
On the basis of current research it was suggested that FPG have anti‐hyperlipidemic potential. Still, the mechanism of actions of FPG as anti‐hyperlipidemic and other therapeutic potential have yet to be explored. Abstract Flaxseed polysaccharide gum (FPG) was extracted through the ultrasound‐assisted process using water as a solvent with a yield ...

Improving outcomes in intensified processing via optimization of the cell line development workflow

open access: yesBiotechnology Progress, EarlyView.
Abstract As the industry continues to explore the benefits of continuous and intensified manufacturing, it is important to assure that the cell line development (CLD) workflows in practice today are well suited to generate clones that meet the unique challenges associated with these processes. Most cell lines used in intensified processes are currently

Identification of compounds from chufa (Eleocharis dulcis) peels by widely targeted metabolomics

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 11, Issue 1, Page 545-554, January 2023., 2023
The big Chinese water chestnut (BCWC) and small Chinese water chestnut (SCWC) peels using ultraperformance liquid chromatography/mass spectrometry (UPLC/MS)‐based metabolomics analysis. A total of 321 significant metabolites, including 90 flavonoids, 25 phenylpropanoids, and 33 organic acids and derivatives, were identified/annotated from BCWC and SCWC.

ERO1 alpha deficiency impairs angiogenesis by increasing N-glycosylation of a proangiogenic VEGFA

open access: yesRedox Biology, 2022
N-glycosylation and disulfide bond formation are two essential steps in protein folding that occur in the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) and reciprocally influence each other.
