Overview of Encapsulated Lysine and Methionine and Their Impacts on Transition Cow Performance and Health

open access: yesAnimal Research and One Health, EarlyView.
The transition period in dairy cows, spanning 3 weeks before and after calving, is a critical phase characterized by increased nutrient demands, reduced dry matter intake (DMI), and elevated risk of metabolic disorders such as negative nutrient balance (NNB), lipolysis, proteolysis, and oxidative stress.

Effect of Eight Weeks of Endurance Training on Some Oxidant and Antioxidant Indicators of Testicular Tissue of Diabetic Rats with Acute Morphine Withdrawal Syndrome [PDF]

open access: yesMajallah-i Dānishgāh-i ’Ulūm-i Pizishkī-i Shahīd Ṣadūqī Yazd
Introduction: Diabetes along with morphine causes many metabolic damages in the testicles by causing oxidative stress. This study aimed to reduce the oxidative effects caused by diabetes and morphine on the fertility quality of men with the help of ...

Heat Stress and Gut Microbiome Dynamics in Poultry: Interplay, Consequences, and Mitigation Strategies

open access: yesAnimal Research and One Health, EarlyView.
Heat stress disrupts gut microbial balance in poultry, impairing nutrient absorption and immunity. This review outlines the interplay between thermal stress and microbiome dynamics and discusses integrative mitigation strategies, probiotics, phytogenics, cooling systems, and genetic adaptation to enhance poultry resilience.

Dietary Glutamine Supplementation Alleviated Rumen Epithelium Oxidative Damage and Apoptosis Induced by Feed Restriction via Maintaining Mitochondrial Homeostasis in Female Yaks

open access: yesAnimal Research and One Health, EarlyView.
Dietary glutamine (Gln) supplementation increased the ATP levels and promoted cell proliferation in the rumen epithelium of feed‐restricted yaks. Besides, Gln inhibited ROS accumulation and reduced oxidative damage and apoptosis in the rumen epithelium of feed‐restricted yaks.

Glutathione peroxidase (GPX) activity in blood of ewes on farms in different scrapie categories in Iceland

open access: yesActa Veterinaria Scandinavica, 2008
Background Preliminary studies indicated decreased glutathione peroxidase (GPX) activity in blood of ewes on scrapie-afflicted farms. Other studies have shown decreased GPX activity in brain of prion-infected mice and in prion-infected cells in vitro ...

Schwinger boson spin liquid states on square lattice

open access: yes, 2016
We study possible spin liquids on square lattice that respect all lattice symmetries and time-reversal symmetry within the framework of Schwinger boson (mean-field) theory. Such spin liquids have spin gap and emergent Z_2 gauge field excitations.

Harnessing nanomaterials to precisely regulate the immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment for enhanced immunotherapy

open access: yesBMEMat, EarlyView.
The immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment, characterized by hypoxia, redox imbalance, elevated interstitial fluid pressure, and acidity, was comprehensively elucidated. This review discussed the etiology and consequences of the characteristics of the immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment, and analyzed the recent advancements in nanomaterials for ...
