Proprotein convertase furin regulates apoptosis and proliferation of granulosa cells in the rat ovary. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2013
Folliculogenesis is tightly controlled by a series of hormones, growth factors and cytokines, many of which are secreted as proproteins and require processing by proteases before becoming functional.

Transcriptome datasets of ESR2-regulated genes in rat granulosa cells during gonadotropin-induced follicle maturation

open access: yesData in Brief, 2020
Disruption of estrogen receptor beta (ESR2) dysregulates granulosa cell genes essential for follicle maturation and ovulation. The datasets presented in this article depict gonadotropin-induced genes, which are differentially expressed in Esr2-null rat ...

Transcriptional activation of the mouse Scd2 gene by interdependent enhancers and long noncoding RNAs in ovarian granulosa cells

open access: yesThe Journal of Reproduction and Development, 2020
Specific gene expression in granulosa cells is key for the function of ovary, but the molecular mechanism of transcriptional activation is not well studied.

GGPP-Mediated Protein Geranylgeranylation in Oocyte Is Essential for the Establishment of Oocyte-Granulosa Cell Communication and Primary-Secondary Follicle Transition in Mouse Ovary. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS Genetics, 2017
Folliculogenesis is a progressive and highly regulated process, which is essential to provide ova for later reproductive life, requires the bidirectional communication between the oocyte and granulosa cells.

The Nuclear Localization of ACLY Guards Early Embryo Development Through Recruiting P300 and HAT1 to Promote Histone Acetylation and Transcription

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ACLY is vital for early embryo development. IGF‐1 activates AKT to phosphorylate ACLY, driving its nuclear localization and recruitment of HATs (P300/HAT1), boosting acetyl‐CoA production and histone acetylation for transcriptional activation. Conversely, ACLY deficiency (via knockdown, knockout, or AKT inhibition) reduces nuclear acetyl‐CoA, disrupts ...

The adipokines progranulin and omentin – novel regulators of basic ovarian cell functions

open access: yesReproductive Biology and Endocrinology
The present study aimed to examine the effects of progranulin and omentin on basic ovarian cell functions. For this purpose, we investigated the effects of the addition of progranulin and omentin (0, 0.1, 1, or 10 ng/ml) on the viability, proliferation ...

Regulatory Mechanisms Underlying the Expression of Prolactin Receptor in Chicken Granulosa Cells. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2017
Prolactin (PRL) has both pro- and anti-gonadal roles in the regulation of avian ovarian functions through its interaction with the receptor (PRLR).

ATF6 knockdown decreases apoptosis, arrests the S phase of the cell cycle, and increases steroid hormone production in mouse granulosa cells.

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Physiology - Cell Physiology, 2017
Activating transcription factor 6 (ATF6), a sensor protein located in the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) membrane, is an important factor in the ER stress signaling pathway.

Semaphorin 3E‐Plexin‐D1 Pathway Downstream of the Luteinizing Hormone Surge Regulates Ovulation, Granulosa Cell Luteinization, and Ovarian Angiogenesis in Mice

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The Semaphorin 3E (Sema3E)‐Plexin‐D1 pathway mediated by C/EBPα and C/EBPβ downstream of the luteinizing hormone (LH) surge plays important roles in the mouse preovulatory ovary. Timely activation and suppression of this pathway during the preovulatory stage are crucial for ovulation, corpus luteum formation, and proper angiogenesis.
