Proanthocyanidin is a potent antioxidant that is why it directly affects many important diseases such as coronary heart disease, cholesterol etc. Thus, proanthocyanidin is one of the important dietary supplements, which is mainly found in grape seeds. In this study the extraction of this valuable antioxidant from grape seeds was studied.

Grape seed extract (GSE), derived as a by-product from Vitis vinifera processing, is rich in polyphenolic compounds, particularly proanthocyanidins, which exhibit potent antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and anti-diabetic properties. GSE contains a complex mix of monomers, oligomers, and polymers of catechin and epicatechin derivatives.
