A reliable and efficient genetic transformation protocol for various turfgrass species and elite cultivars has been achieved using Agrobacterium tumefaciens. We describe a general protocol for the establishment of embryogenic cell cultures, Agrobacterium tumefaciens-mediated transformation, selection, and regeneration of transgenic turfgrass plants ...

Grass and Grass Utilization in Iceland
Ecology, 1972The total area of Iceland is approximately 103,500 sq.km. of which 40,000 sq.km. presumably was covered with vegetation at the time of settlement in 874 A.D. During the 1,100 years of occupancy serious erosion has taken place, resulting in the deterioration of the grassland. At present, the total area of vegetation is only 20,000 sq.km.

Soil Phosphorus Remediation by Bahia Grass, Common Bermuda Grass, Crab Grass, and Switch Grass
Communications in Soil Science and Plant Analysis, 2016ABSTRACTSoil phosphorus (P) removal by harvest may be a practical remediation strategy. Small plots of bahia grass (BG) (Paspalum notatum Flugge), common bermuda grass (CB) (Cynodon dactylon (L.) Pers.), crab grass (CG) (Digitaria ciliaris (Retz.) Koel.), and switch grass (SG) (Panicum virgatum L.) were established on a coastal plain soil (Mehlich 3P ...
