Cucumber PGIP2 is involved in resistance to gray mold disease
GenePolygalacturonase inhibitor protein (PGIP) restricts fungal growth and colonization and functions in plant immunity. Gray mold in cucumber is a common fungal disease caused by Botrytis cinerea, and is widespread and difficult to control in cucumber (Cucumis sativus L.) production.

Biological Control, 1996Abstract The possibility of employing antagonistic bacteria for postharvest control of gray mold on pear was studied. Approximately 175 strains of bacteria were isolated from beneath the skin of various fruits and vegetables and 14 of these possessed high levels of antagonistic properties.
