A thermoelectric power generating heat exchanger: Part I - Experimental realization [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
An experimental realization of a heat exchanger with commercial thermoelectric generators (TEGs) is presented. The power producing capabilities as a function of flow rate and temperature span are characterized for two different commercial heat transfer ...

Mercury (II) Removal From Stock Solutions Using Pulsed Electrochemical Technique Coupled With Biochar Adsorbent

open access: yesChemistryOpen, Volume 15, Issue 5, May 2026.
Pulsed electrooxidation combined with magnetic biochar adsorption achieved up to 98.9% Hg(II) removal from synthetic water. Optimal conditions (pH‐6.03, 34.15 min, 1.55 g/L biochar, 0.43 A, 227 mg/L Hg) enhanced efficiency beyond electrooxidation alone, demonstrating a synergistic, energy‐efficient treatment approach.

Indirect Electrochemical Oxidation Using Active Chlorine for Treating Distillery Effluent

open access: yesChemistryOpen, Volume 15, Issue 5, May 2026.
Indirect electrochemical oxidation (IEO) using MMO anode and SS cathode generates active chlorine species that rapidly decolorize and degrade organic pollutants in distillery wastewater. Optimization of current (0.27 A), pH (6), NaCl (6 g L−1), and electrode gap (2 cm) resulted in 85% COD removal with low energy demand (19.38 kWh kg−1 COD).

Phytoremediation of Wastewater From Oil Well Drilling: Potential of Different Plant Species

open access: yesWater Environment Research, Volume 98, Issue 5, May 2026.
Purple fountain grass (Cenchrus setaceus “Rubrum”) is a promising plant for using in constructed wetlands treating complex oil drilling effluents. ABSTRACT This study evaluated the removal of contaminants present in wastewater from oil well drilling in the presence of three plant species: water hyacinth (Eichhornia crassipes), cattail (Typha ...

Passive environmental DNA sampling: A review of current practices, limitations and future directions for biodiversity monitoring

open access: yesMethods in Ecology and Evolution, Volume 17, Issue 5, Page 1535-1555, May 2026.
Abstract Passive environmental DNA (eDNA) sampling is rapidly emerging as a powerful alternative to active sampling methods (e.g. direct water sampling), with a rapidly growing diversity of tested approaches but little methodological convergence.

Enhanced volatile fatty acids production from anaerobic fermentation of grease trap waste by Fenton pretreatment

open access: yesWater Cycle
To achieve the efficient reclamation of organic resources in grease trap waste (GTW), a Fenton pretreatment for GTW was proposed in this work to convert the organic resources in GTW to soluble chemical oxygen demand (SCOD), followed by SCOD was then ...
