A model combining oscillations and attractor dynamics for generation of grid cell firing
Different models have been able to account for different features of the data on grid cell firing properties, including the relationship of grid cells to cellular properties and network oscillations. This paper describes a model that combines elements of

Biomimetic SLAM Algorithm Based on Growing Self-Organizing Map
A Biomimetic SLAM Algorithm Based on Growing Self-Organizing Map (GSOM-BSLAM), inspired by spatial cognitive mechanism of mammalian hippocampus, is proposed to resolve uncertainty problems in location identification and lack of real-time performance in ...

Activation of the mitochondrial protein OXR1 increases pSyn129 αSynuclein aggregation by lowering ATP levels and altering mitochondrial membrane potential, particularly in response to MSA‐derived fibrils. In contrast, ablation of the ER protein EMC4 enhances autophagic flux and lysosomal clearance, broadly reducing α‐synuclein aggregates.

Modeling grid fields instead of modeling grid cells [PDF]
A neuron’s firing correlates are defined as the features of the external world to which its activity is correlated. In many parts of the brain, neurons have quite simple such firing correlates. A striking example are grid cells in the rodent medial entorhinal cortex: their activity correlates with the animal’s position in space, defining ‘grid fields ...

Unique grid cell identification of Croatian official map grids [PDF]
The Unique Grid Cell Identification (UGCI) system was created using the Croatian cartographic map grid system as a basis for development. A short description of the Croatian map grid system is therefore provided. Cartographic map nomenclature is used to uniquely identify map sheets; e.g. grid cells.

Major technical issues with increased PV penetration on the existing electrical grid [PDF]
In the past decade, the installation of rooftop PV (Photovoltaic) systems has substantially increased in many countries. This increase is anticipated due to government incentives like RECs (Renewable Energy Certificates) and feed-in tariff, to ...

Short-term performance variations of different photovoltaic system technologies under the humid subtropical climate of Kanpur in India [PDF]
The study discusses the short-term performance variations of grid-connected photovoltaic (PV) systems installed in Kanpur, India. The analysis presents a holistic view of the performance variations of three PV array technologies [multi-crystalline (multi-

Molecular characterization of covRS mutations in M1UK Streptococcus pyogenes
Group A Streptococcus (GAS) acquires covRS mutations driving a hypervirulent bacterial state, frequently associated with invasive disease‐like necrotizing fasciitis. We demonstrate that the newly emerged M1UK GAS lineage can also acquire these mutations.

Tuned synaptic weights of learned grid cells. [PDF]
Distribution of adapted weights from stripe cells, grouped by direction, to the model grid cell with the highest grid score in the last trial for each input stripe spacing: (a) 20 cm, (b) 35 cm, and (c) 50 cm.
