EXPERIMENTAL CALIBRATION OF UNDERGROUND HEAT TRANSFER MODELS UNDER A WINERY BUILDING IN A RURAL AREA
Ground temperature and hydrogeological conditions are key parameters for many engineering applications, such as the design of building basements and underground spaces and the assessment of shallow geothermal energy potential. Especially in urban areas,

Predicting ground temperatures across European landscapes
Summary Ambient temperatures in natural environments can vary widely over short distances, especially on rugged ground where exposure to solar radiation depends on slope and aspect. Temperatures can also fluctuate rapidly, reaching values not revealed by climate data.

GROUND TEMPERATURES COMPARED WITH AIR TEMPERATURES IN A SHELTER
Abstract SYNOPSIS A series of observation was at the United States Weather Bureau Station, University of Missouri, Columbia, during the months of September and October, 1907, to determine how much exposed thermometers on the ground differed from sheltered thermometers 11 made, one of bare soil, one of blue-grass sod, and one of sand.

Relationship of ground temperatures to air temperatures in forests
Ground temperatures differ from air temperatures because of effects of vegetation and humus, other site characteristics, and snow cover. For engineering work, ground surface temperatures may be estimated from the more readily available air temperatures through the use of a single parameter, the n-factor, to represent these effects.
