Antibiotic Susceptibility Profile of Vertically Acquired Group B Streptococcus (GBS) 1464 [PDF]

open access: yesPediatric Research, 1998
Penicillin G and ampicillin are the recommended antibiotics for prevention of early-onset GBS disease (EOGBS). We studied the antibiograms of 111 colonizing and 8 invasive strains of GBS to penicillin G, ampicillin, clindamycin, cefazolin, gentamicin, and erythromycin using both minimal inhibitory concentration (MIC) and Kirby-Bauer (KB) methods ...

Gingival inflammation and plaque accumulation affect therapeutic outcomes in patients with acne vulgaris

open access: yesJournal of Periodontology, EarlyView.
Abstract Background We hypothesized that acne vulgaris (AV) and gingivitis were associated through systemic inflammatory mechanisms, sharing common etiological factors. This study aimed to identify the association between AV and gingivitis and to assess changes in acne severity in relation to changes in the plaque index (PI).

Study of Molecular Epidemiologic of Group B Streptococcus Colonization in Pregnant Women by PCR Method [PDF]

open access: yesپیاورد سلامت, 2011
Background and Aim: Group B streptococcus(GBS)(Streptococcus agalactiae) is the leading cause of morbidity and mortality of the newborn infant and accounted as a factor leading septicemia after birth in mothers. Infections in infants are usually acquired

Increase in Penicillin Non-Susceptibility in Group B Streptococci Alongside Rising Isolation Rates—Based on 24 Years of Clinical Data from a Single University Hospital

open access: yesAntibiotics
Background/Objectives: Streptococcus agalactiae (Group B Streptococci, GBS) is Gram-positive, beta-hemolytic coccus known to be transmitted by vertical transmission in neonates during birth with neonatal sepsis, pneumonia, and meningitis.

Macrophage induced gelsolin in response to Group B Streptococcus (GBS) infection.

open access: yesCellular microbiology, 2015
Group B Streptococcus (GBS) has evolved several strategies to avoid host defences. We have shown that interaction of macrophages with GBS causes macrophage calpain activation, cytoskeletal disruption and apoptosis, consequences of intracellular calcium increase induced by membrane permeability alterations provoked by GBS-β-haemolysin.

Consuming heat‐inactivated Lactiplantibacillus pentosus ONRICb0240‐containing postbiotics reduces gingival inflammation: A double‐blind randomized clinical trial

open access: yesJournal of Periodontology, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Periodontal disease affects people globally, requiring approaches to halt progression at the gingivitis stage. Researchers have investigated live probiotics; we studied the effect of a heat‐inactivated preparation (postbiotic) of Lactiplantibacillus pentosus ONRICb0240 on gingival inflammation.

Epidemiology of group B streptococcal infection in pregnant women and diseased infants in mainland China

open access: yesPediatrics and Neonatology, 2019
Group B Streptococcus (GBS) is a leading cause of neonatal sepsis and an important cause of maternal disease in many countries; however, no accurate population-based epidemiological data on GBS is yet available in mainland China.

Zinc‐stabilized stannous fluoride modulates the periodontal microbiome, reducing Fusobacteria, key Gram‐negative species, and overall inflammation within an experimental gingivitis clinical trial

open access: yesJournal of Periodontology, EarlyView.
Abstract Background This study aimed to evaluate the effects of a dentifrice containing stannous fluoride stabilized with zinc phosphate on subgingival microbiome composition and clinical inflammation during experimental gingivitis, compared with a sodium fluoride control. Methods This investigation was conducted as a secondary analysis of a randomized,

Microbial communities and functional diversity in seafood

open access: yesJSFA reports, EarlyView.
Abstract Functional diversity encompasses ecosystem processes that enhance adaptability to environmental change. This study explores the diversity of microorganisms associated with seafood. In this paper, we present our knowledge of microbial diversity in relation to seafood.

Maternal group B Streptococcus recto vaginal colonization increases the odds of stillbirth: evidence from Eastern Ethiopia

open access: yesBMC Pregnancy and Childbirth, 2018
Background Group B Streptococcus (GBS) causes a significant number of stillbirths. Despite this, there is little documented information on the association between stillbirth and pregnant women’s GBS recto vaginal colonization in Sub Saharan Africa.
