The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Analysis of Distribution and Season of Crab (Portunus pelagicus) in Indonesia Waters

open access: yesGrouper
Blue swimming crab (BSC) (Portunus pelagicus) is an Indonesian export commodity for America. The distribution of BSC can be found in the seas of Java, Madura, Sumatra, Bangka Belitung, Kalimantan and Sulawesi.

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Study on The Distribution of Longtail Tuna (Thunnus Tonggol) Catch Based on Chlorophyll-A Using Aqua Modis Imagery in West Sumatera

open access: yesGrouper
The longtail tuna (Thunnus tonggol) is one of the highest-producing fishery commodities in the waters of West Sumatra. Its abundance is influenced by oceanographic conditions, particularly indicated by chlorophyll-a concentration as a marker of water ...

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

Extraction of Collagen from Kedukang Fish Bone (Hexanematichthys sagor) at Various Concentrations of Acetic Acid Solution

open access: yesGrouper
The bones of kedukang fish, a by-product of jambal roti production in Pangandaran, have the potential to be a source of collagen. Collagen extraction can be done chemically using acetic acid solution.

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Impact of Glucose Addition on The Embryo Development of Climbing Perch (Anabas testudineus Bloch)

open access: yesGrouper
The addition of glucose to the hatching medium is thought to enhance the embryonic development of climbing perch by providing additional energy, strengthening metabolic stability.
