Mild Focal Cooling Decouples Dendrites to Reconfigure Cortical Output

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Mild cooling of the cortical surface selectively modulates apical dendritic excitability, plasticity, and somato‐dendritic coupling, while uncoupling these effects from basal dendrites, and reshapes apical‐driven responses in barrel cortex during whisker touch.

Effect of Adding Green Tea Polyphenols to Bali Bull Spermatozoa Diluent: Implications for Semen Quality, Hydrogen Peroxide Concentration, and Fertilization Rate [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Global Innovations in Agricultural Sciences
Green Tea Polyphenols (GTP) are bioactive compounds found in green tea and are known to have strong antioxidant properties. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of adding GTP in the extender in terms of quality, hydrogen peroxide (H2O2 ...

MG53 Coordinates Macrophage Polarization and Neuroimmune Coupling to Promote Corneal Nerve Regeneration via the MPEG1–MVP–STAT6 Axis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Corneal nerve regeneration is critical to corneal wound healing processes. The current study reveals a novel role of MG53 in promoting corneal nerve regeneration after alkali induced injury. Mechanistically, MG53 enters macrophages via its receptor, MPEG1, promotes MVP K63 ubiquitination, and triggers STAT6 induced repair‐related genes expression ...

Kinetic and Structural Analysis of the Mg2+ -binding Site of the Guanine Nucleotide-binding Protein p21 H-ras. [PDF]

open access: yes, 1993
The coordination and binding of the Mg2+ ion in the nucleotide−binding site of p21 have been investigated using site−directed mutagenesis, kinetic methods, and phosphorous NMR.

Engineering a Virus‐Derived X Family DNA Polymerase FvPolX for de novo DNA Synthesis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In this study, a Faustovirus‐derived polymerase (FvPolX) is engineered based on structural and sequence analysis of PolX enzymes. The optimal mutants demonstrate substantially enhanced catalytic activity toward dNTPs and 3′‐ONH2‐dNTPs compared to the wild‐type enzyme.

Uncoupling of dynamin polymerization and GTPase activity revealed by the conformation-specific nanobody dynab

open access: yeseLife, 2017
Dynamin is a large GTPase that forms a helical collar at the neck of endocytic pits, and catalyzes membrane fission (Schmid and Frolov, 2011; Ferguson and De Camilli, 2012).

Estimation of Peaked Densities Over the Interval [0,1] Using Two-Sided Power Distribution: Application to Lottery Experiments [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper deals with estimating peaked densities over the interval [0,1] using two-sided power distribution (Kotz, van Dorp, 2004). Such data were encountered in experiments determining certainty equivalents of lotteries (Kontek, 2010).

Paternal Caffeine Exposure Programs Offspring Stress Vulnerability via Sperm Dlk1‐Dio3 Imprinting‐Directed Remodeling of a Novel Neural Circuit

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The study elucidates that paternal preconception stress can drive offspring hyperresponsivity of the stress system via hypomethylation of a specific DNA region in sperm. This key link is confirmed in a cohort of prospective fathers: the epigenetic alteration is associated with elevated stress hormone levels.

Extracellular GTP is a Potent Water-Transport Regulator via Aquaporin 5 Plasma-Membrane Insertion in M1-CCD Epithelial Cortical Collecting Duct Cells

open access: yesCellular Physiology and Biochemistry, 2014
Background/Aims: Extracellular GTP is able to modulate some specific functions in neuron, glia and muscle cell models as it has been demonstrated over the last two decades.
