Guanosine 5'-triphosphate 3'-diphosphate (pppGpp) and guanosine 5'-diphosphate 3'-diphosphate (ppGpp) are specifically degraded by a manganese-dependent pyrophosphorylase present in spoT+ but not in spoT- strains of Escherichia coli, indicating that the enzyme is the spoT gene product.

5‘-RNA Self-Capping from Guanosine Diphosphate
Biochemistry, 1997A selected RNA (isolate 6) efficiently catalyzes a self-capping reaction with free GDP, yielding the same 5'-capped structure as is formed by protein GTP:RNA guanylyltransferase. This unexplored RNA-catalyzed reaction type involving nucleophilic attack on phosphate by phosphate adds to the variety of possible postsynthetic RNA-catalyzed RNA ...

Selective Inhibition of tRNATyr Transcription by Guanosine 3′‐Diphosphate 5′‐Diphosphate
European Journal of Biochemistry, 1977Guanosine 3′‐diphosphate 5′‐diphosphate (ppGpp) selectively reduces the synthesis of su+III tRNA from θ80 psu+III DNA relative to the synthesis of θ80 RNA in a system in vitro containing DNA and Escherichia coli RNA polymerase holoenzyme as the sole macromolecular components.

Guanosine 5'-diphosphate (GDP)-L-fucose, an activated form of a nucleotide sugar, plays an important role in a wide range of biological functions. In this study, the enhancement of GDP-L-fucose production was attempted by supplementation of mannose, which is a potentially better carbon source to be converted into GDP-L-fucose than glucose, and ...

Biochemistry, 1975
The ribosome-dependent stringent factor reaction was found to be nonspecific with regard to the number of phosphate groups linked to the 5' position of guanosine nucleotides. Both GMP and guanosine 5'-tetraphosphate could accept a pyrophosphoryl group from ATP although at a much lower rate than GDP or GTP.

Publisher Summary This chapter describes the isolation of uridine diphosphate glucose, uridine diphosphate acetylglucosamine, and guanosine diphosphate mannose. The basic principle is that alcoholic extract from toluene-autolyzed yeast is fractionated on anion-exchange columns.
