Smell and Taste Disorder Impact on Eating Habits: A Cross‐Sectional Observational Study

open access: yesClinical Otolaryngology, Volume 51, Issue 4, Page 565-573, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Smell and Taste disorders (SATDs) are underreported. There is a wide range of aetiology but recently we have seen growing prevalence related to Covid‐19 infection. SATDs have broad implications for people's lives, including a significant impact on nutritional intake and eating behaviours, which we further explore here.

Personalised Perception: The Effect of Personality on the Sensory Effects of Psychedelics

open access: yesDrug and Alcohol Review, Volume 45, Issue 5, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Introduction Psychedelics induce a wide range of sensory distortions and hallucinations (henceforth ‘distortions’). Yet, little is known about factors that influence the occurrence of certain distortions. Extra‐pharmacological variables including personality traits have been found to correlate with the occurrence of different subjective ...

Effects of Oral Health and Functional Characteristics on Taste Sensitivity in Older Adults: Comparative Analysis Using Solution and Taste Strip Tests

open access: yesJournal of Oral Rehabilitation, Volume 53, Issue 7, Page 1286-1295, July 2026.
Oral and functional status differentially modify gustatory assessment in older adults. Salivary and swallowing functions selectively affect strip and solution tests, respectively, highlighting the complementary roles of these methods for comprehensive evaluation and personalised management of taste dysfunction.

Three Generations of NARCliM: Evaluation of Precipitation, Temperature and Their Extremes Over the CORDEX Australasia Domain

open access: yesInternational Journal of Climatology, Volume 46, Issue 7, 15 June 2026.
The NSW and Australian Regional Climate Modelling Version 2.0 (NARCliM2.0) builds on NARCliM1.0 and 1.5 to deliver improved regional climate simulations. This study provides the first comprehensive evaluation of NARCliM2.0 against its predecessors, assessing individual model skill in reproducing mean and extreme climate.

Analysis of the gustatory receptor-mediated signaling cascade in \(\it {Drosophila}\)

open access: yes, 2010

Microbial Metabolite‐Stimulated Bitter Taste Receptor T2R14 Signaling Is Modulated by CFTR Interactions

open access: yesThe FASEB Journal, Volume 40, Issue 11, 15 June 2026.
Bitter taste receptors (T2Rs) play an important role in physiological and cellular responses. Bitter tasting chemicals and microbial metabolites can bind to T2R14, which enables interactions between T2R14 and specific intracellular domains of the cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator (CFTR) anion channel.
