Mediterranean Warming Amplified the Convective Environment During the December 13, 2024 Severe Thunderstorm at Rome–Fiumicino Airport

open access: yesAtmospheric Science Letters, Volume 27, Issue 9, September 2026.
A conditional analogue analysis of a severe thunderstorm disrupting Rome–Fiumicino Airport shows that, while synoptic circulation patterns remain largely unchanged since 1979, the thermodynamic environment has significantly warmed. Increased air and sea surface temperatures are linked to higher convective instability, precipitation, and wind shear ...

Gradient‐Boosted Mixture Regression Models for Postprocessing Ensemble Weather Forecasts

open access: yesEnvironmetrics, Volume 37, Issue 6, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Nowadays, weather forecasts are based on ensemble forecasts which originate from multiple runs of numerical weather prediction models. However, such forecasts are usually miscalibrated and/or biased, thus requiring statistical postprocessing. Non‐homogeneous regression models, such as ensemble model output statistics, are frequently applied to

Effects of Spirulina Enrichment on Bread Quality: Color, Texture, Volatile, and Sensory Properties

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 14, Issue 9, September 2026.
This study explored how the addition of 1%–2% Spirulina powder affects bread quality, focusing on color, texture, volatile compounds, and sensory characteristics. Spirulina mainly influenced bread color and volatile profile, while texture remained largely unchanged. The enriched samples also showed more pronounced bitter and marine notes.
