Nucleotide 9-mers Characterize the Type II Diabetic Gut Metagenome [PDF]
Discoveries of new biomarkers for frequently occurring diseases are of special importance in today's medicine. While fully developed type II diabetes (T2D) can be detected easily, the early identification of high risk individuals is an area of interest in T2D, too.

This study presents a novel polyphenol‐nanozyme‐armored probiotic system (ECA@EcN) for enhanced treatment of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). By integrating chitosan‐modified epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG‐CS) with gold nanozymes, the system effectively scavenges ROS, improves probiotic viability, and restores gut microbiota balance.

Digital Beings as an option to study gut flora evolution and adaptation [PDF]
In this work, we introduce a computational model for the study of the host-bacteria interaction and the influence of the intestinal microbiota on the behavior and feeding pattern of an individual. The model is based on digital entities, which we've called Digital Beings (DBs), modeled using dynamic systems and genetic algorithms.

Chelyabinsk meteorite explains unusual spectral properties of Baptistina Asteroid Family [PDF]
We investigated the spectral and compositional properties of Chelyabinsk meteorite to identify its possible parent body in the main asteroid belt. Our analysis shows that the meteorite contains two spectrally distinct but compositionally indistinguishable components of LL5 chondrite and shock blackened/impact melt material.

A Model of Epigenetic Inheritance Accounts for Unexpected Adaptation to Unforeseen Challenges
A general model of inheriting changes that are acquired during the lifetime of individuals demonstrates tremendous benefits to the population, including escape from extinction in changing environments. Contrasting the model with experimental data shows that inheritance of acquired changes enables rapid adaptation to unforeseen challenges, and accounts ...

Isoquercitrin Alleviates Diabetic Nephropathy by Inhibiting STAT3 Phosphorylation and Dimerization
This study identified a natural compound, isoquercitrin, which significantly alleviated kidney inflammation and fibrosis by inhibiting STAT3 activity. Isoquercitrin forms a strong, noncovalent bond that directly binds to STAT3. Isoquercitrin binds to the pY+1 pocket of the SH2 domain of STAT3 via hydrogen bonding with Ser668, Gln635, and Gln633 ...
