A new bound for the 2/3 conjecture [PDF]
We show that any n-vertex complete graph with edges colored with three colors contains a set of at most four vertices such that the number of the neighbors of these vertices in one of the colors is at least 2n/3. The previous best value, proved by Erdos,

Surface Wave Development and Ambient Sound in the Ocean
Abstract Wind, wave, and acoustic observations are used to test a scaling for ambient sound levels in the ocean that is based on wind speed and the degree of surface wave development (at a given wind speed). The focus of this study is acoustic frequencies in the range 1–20 kHz, for which sound is generated by the bubbles injected during surface wave ...

Influence of selected Rhizoctonia solani isolates on sugar beet seedlings
From 2008 to 2010 the levels of sugar beet seedlings infection caused by Rhizoctonia solani were compared in laboratory tests. Seven sugar beet lines were tested: H56, H66, S2, S3, S4, S5 and S6 as well as three control cultivars: Carlos, Esperanza and ...

High Antigen Dose Is Detrimental to Post-Exposure Vaccine Protection against Tuberculosis
Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Mtb), the etiologic agent of tuberculosis (TB), causes 1.8M deaths annually. The current vaccine, BCG, has failed to eradicate TB leaving 25% of the world’s population with latent Mtb infection (LTBI), and 5–10% of these ...

In this study, we construct the novel multi‐stage DNA vaccine, W541, against Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Then, bioinformatics methods were applied to analyze various physicochemical properties and immunological characteristics of the vaccine. Finally, the immunogenicity of the vaccine was evaluated in animal experiments.

CD4(+) T-cell priming is an essential step in vaccination due to the key role of T helper cells in driving both effector and memory immune responses. Here we have characterized in C57BL/6 mice the T helper subtype differentiation among tetramer-specific CD4(+) T cells primed by subcutaneous immunization with the tuberculosis vaccine antigen H56 plus ...

The first example of a nonbridging η2‐coordination of a tetrazolato ligand to a d‐block element (Zr) is reported. Three related dinuclear 5‐phenyltetrazolato complexes of Ti, Zr, and Ta are structurally characterized.Three structurally diverse 5‐phenyltetrazolato (Tz) Ti, Zr, and Ta complexes, namely, (C2H8N)[Ti2(C7H5N4)5(C2H6N)4]·1.45C6H6 or (Me2NH2 ...
