ATP/ADP exchange activity of gastric (H+ + K+)-ATPase

Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Biomembranes, 1982
The ATP/ADP exchange is shown to be a partial reaction of the (H+ +K+)-ATPase by the absence of measurable nucleoside diphosphokinase activity and the insensitivity of the reaction to P1, P5-di(adenosine-5') pentaphosphate, a myokinase inhibitor. The exchange demonstrates an absolute requirement for Mg2+ and is optimal at an ADP/ATP ratio of 2.

Osmosensitivity of the 2H+−K+-exchange and the H+-ATPase complex F0F1 in anaerobically grownEscherichia coli

Current Microbiology, 1994
Escherichia coli grown anaerobically for osmotic studies upon increased osmolarity in alkaline medium carried out H+−K+-exchange in two steps, the first of which was DCCD1 sensitive and osmo-dependent and had the 2H+/K+ stoichiometry. H+-efflux in the presence of protonophore (CCCP) upon increase of osmolarity was shown to be high and inhibited by DCCD,

Na(+)-H+ exchange, but not Na(+)-K(+)-ATPase, is present in endosome-enriched microsomes from rabbit renal cortex

American Journal of Physiology-Renal Physiology, 1990
Previous studies have demonstrated a Na(+)-dependent decrease in the ATP-generated acidification of endosomes and have attributed it to the presence of either a Na(+)-H+ exchanger or a Na(+)-K(+)-adenosinetriphosphatase (ATPase) in parallel with the vacuolar H(+)-ATPase.

Roles of the Na,K‐ATPase α4 isoform and the Na+/H+ exchanger in sperm motility

Molecular Reproduction and Development, 2002
AbstractThe Na,K‐ATPase generates electrochemical gradients that are used to drive the coupled transport of many ions and nutrients across the plasma membrane. The functional enzyme is comprised of an α and β subunit and families of isoforms for both subunits exist. Recent studies in this laboratory have identified a biological role for the Na,K‐ATPase

Colocalization of the apical Cl/HCO 3 − exchanger PAT1 and gastric H-K-ATPase in stomach parietal cells

American Journal of Physiology-Gastrointestinal and Liver Physiology, 2002
The apical Cl−/HCO[Formula: see text] exchanger called the putative anion transporter (PAT1; SLC26A6) is expressed on apical membranes of villus cells in the duodenum, but its location in the stomach remains unknown. Here we examined the cell distribution and membrane location of PAT1 in mouse stomach. Immunofluorescence labeling studies with anti-PAT1

Both Na+-K+ATPase and Na+-H+Exchanger are Immediately Active upon Post-ischemic Reperfusion in Isolated Rat Hearts

Journal of Molecular and Cellular Cardiology, 1998
Limited time resolution has hampered proper evaluation of changes in intracellular Na+ (Na+i) in whole hearts upon post-ischemic reperfusion. In isolated rat hearts perfused at 37 degrees C, we studied the contribution of the Na+-K+ ATPase and the Na+-H+ exchanger to control of Na+i during reperfusion using 23Na NMR and the shift reagent Tm(DOTP)5 ...

Structures and immunolocalization of Na+, K+‐ATPase, Na+/H+ exchanger 3 and vacuolar‐type H+‐ATPase in the gills of blennies (Teleostei: Blenniidae) inhabiting rocky intertidal areas

Journal of Fish Biology, 2012
The structure and immunolocalization of the ion transporters Na+,K+‐ATPase (NKA), Na+/H+ exchanger (NHE3) and vacuolar‐type H+‐ATPase (VHA) were examined in the gills of teleosts of the family Blenniidae, which inhabit rocky shores with vertical zonation in subtropical seas.
