Caffeine Decreases The Expression of Na+/K+‐Atpase and the Type 3 Na+/H+ Exchanger In Rat Kidney

Clinical and Experimental Pharmacology and Physiology, 2002
SUMMARY1. The aim of the present study was to explore the mechanisms underlying the renal effects of caffeine.2. Male Sprague‐Dawley rats were treated with caffeine, consisting of a single oral bolus (0.2%, 20 mL/kg) followed by supplementation in drinking water (0.2%) for 1 day. Rats treated the same but given water without caffeine served as controls.

Bicarbonate secretion by rat bile duct brush cells indicated by immunohistochemical localization of CFTR, anion exchanger AE2, Na+/HCO3 − cotransporter, carbonic anhydrase II, Na+/H+ exchangers NHE1 and NHE3, H+/K+-ATPase, and Na+/K+-ATPase

Medical Molecular Morphology, 2006
The function of brush cells (BCs) is unknown. In a previous study, the rat common bile duct was examined by ultrastructural cytochemical methods for localizing HCO(3) (-), Cl(-), and Na(+) ions. All ion precipitates increased in or on BCs after secretin or meal stimulation, and it was proposed that BCs may secrete NaHCO(3).

Effects of epidermal growth factor on gluconeogenesis and cellular redox state do not require Na+/H+ exchange or Na+/K+-ATPase activities

Regulatory Peptides, 1994
Epidermal growth factor (EGF) triggers rapid and delayed effects on gluconeogenesis, cytosolic (lactate/pyruvate ratio) and mitochondrial (3-hydroxybutyrate/acetoacetate ratio) redox states (Soler, C. and Soley, M., Biochem. J., 294 (1993) 865-872). This study attempts to determine whether the mechanism by which EGF modulates any of these parameters is

Molecular characterization, expression analysis of 14-3-3 beta/alpha and the effect of RNA interference on ion transporter protein Na+-K+-ATPase, Na+–H+-exchanger and CFTR in turbot (Scophthalmus maximus)

Comparative Biochemistry and Physiology Part B: Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, 2020
To understand the role of 14-3-3 beta/alpha in hypoosmotic regulation of turbot (Scophthalmus maximus), we characterized the 14-3-3 beta/alpha gene and analyzed the tissue distribution and its gene transcriptional patterns in the main expressed tissues under low salt stress. The 14-3-3 beta/alpha cDNA is 892 bp in length, incorporating an ORF of 774 bp

[Systems of H+-K+-exchange in E. coli. Interplay with ATPase complex F1.F0].

Biofizika, 1982
A study has been made of the nature of H+-K+-exchanges in the strain E. coli AN 120 with mutation in gene uncA401 (the defect in Mg++-Ca++-ATPase) and in the strain E. coli AN 382 with mutation in gene uncB (F0 is insensitive to N,N1-dicyclohehylcarbodiimide, DCCD). It was shown in E.

Catalysis of oxygen-18 exchange between inorganic phosphate and water by the gastric H,K-ATPase.

Biochemistry, 1985
The gastric H,K-ATPase is shown to catalyze 18O exchange between Pi and HOH. Mg2+ is the only ion required for the reaction. K+ increases the rate of isotope exchange, which is directly proportional to specific ATPase activity. Ouabain, which potently inhibits the Na,K-ATPase, has no effect on the exchange reaction.

[H+-K+-exchange and formation of H2 in E. coli mutants with defects in the H+-ATPase complex and potassium transport].

Biofizika, 1993
It was shown that 2H(+)-K(+)-exchange through H(+)-K(+)-pump composed of H(+)-ATPase complex F0F1 and Trk-system of potassium accumulation, H(+)-K(+)-exchange through H(+)-K(+)-antiport, composed of H(+)-channel F0 and of system with Trk-defect, and H2-production in E.

Evidence from 18O exchange measurements for steps involving a weak acid and a slow chemical transformation in the mechanism of phosphorylation of the gastric H+, K+-ATPase by inorganic phosphate.

Biochemistry, 1990
Phosphorylation of the gastric H,K-ATPase by Pi has been studied by measuring the P18Oj16O4-j distribution as a function of time at different H+, K+, and [18O]Pi concentrations. The advantage of isotope exchange measurements is that the P18Oj16O4-j distribution depends on the relative rates of HOH loss to form the phosphoenzyme intermediate and Pi ...
