A simple method for purification of vestibular hair cells and non-sensory cells, and application for proteomic analysis. [PDF]
Mechanosensitive hair cells and supporting cells comprise the sensory epithelia of the inner ear. The paucity of both cell types has hampered molecular and cell biological studies, which often require large quantities of purified cells. Here, we report a

We evaluated circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) detection in advanced pancreatic cancer using DNA methylation, cell‐free DNA fragment lengths, and 5′ end motifs. Machine learning models were trained to estimate ctDNA levels from each feature and their combination.

Tuning and Timing in Mammalian Type I Hair Cells and Calyceal Synapses
Afferent nerve fibers in the central zones of vestibular epithelia form calyceal endings around type I hair cells and have phasic response properties that emphasize fast head motions.

In this exploratory study, we investigated the relationship between the gut microbiota and outcome in patients with metastatic hormone receptor‐positive breast cancer, treated in a randomized clinical trial with chemotherapy alone or chemotherapy in combination with immune checkpoint blockade.

Using multi‐omic characterization, we aimed to identify key regulators specific to squamous cell lung carcinoma (SqCC). SqCC‐specific differentially expressed genes were integrated with metabolics data. High expression of the creatine transporter SLC6A8, along with elevated creatine levels, appeared to be a distinct metabolic feature of SqCC.

Hair cell damage recruited Lgr5-expressing cells are hair cell progenitors in neonatal mouse utricle
Damage-activated stem/progenitor cells play important roles in regenerating lost cells and in tissue repair. Previous studies reported that the mouse utricle has limited hair cell regeneration ability after hair cell ablation.

In over 50% of non‐metastatic breast cancer patients, circulating tumor cells (CTCs) along the whole epithelial‐mesenchymal transition spectrum are detected. Total CTC number and individual phenotypes relate to aggressive disease characteristics, including lymph node involvement and higher tumor proliferation. At the single‐cell level, mesenchymal CTCs

In Vitro Culturing and Harvesting of Human Plucked Hair Follicles
Human hair follicles are miniature hair growing organs. A common human hair disorder is androgenetic alopecia (AGA), which becomes a medical problem only when the hair loss is subjectively seen as excessive, premature, and distressing on the scalp.

A Review of Gene Delivery and Stem Cell Based Therapies for Regenerating Inner Ear Hair Cells
Sensory neural hearing loss and vestibular dysfunction have become the most common forms of sensory defects, affecting millions of people worldwide. Developing effective therapies to restore hearing loss is challenging, owing to the limited regenerative ...

Sensorineural hearing loss is a common disability often caused by the loss of sensory hair cells in the cochlea. Hair cell (HCs) regeneration has long been the main target for the development of novel therapeutics for sensorineural hearing loss.
