The origin of the orbital parameter distribution of merging haloes [PDF]

open access: yesMonthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society, 2021
ABSTRACT We describe a simple model that explains the qualitative and (approximate) quantitative features of the distribution of orbital velocities of merging pairs of dark matter haloes. Our model considers a primary dark matter halo as a perturber in a background of secondary haloes with velocities described by linear theory.

Halo Orbits under Some Perturbations in cr3bp

open access: yesSymmetry, 2023
The general idea of this paper is to study the effect of mass variation of a test particle on periodic orbits in the restricted three-body model. In the circular restricted three-body problem (cr3bp), two bigger bodies (known as primary and secondary or sometime only primaries) are placed at either side of the origin on abscissa while moving in ...

Using frequency maps to explore the distribution function of the Milky Way stellar halo

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2012
Resolved surveys of the Milky Way's stellar halo can obtain all 6 phase space coordinates of tens of thousands of individual stars, making it possible to compute their 3-dimensional orbits.

Matter Density Distributions, Root-mean Square Radii and Elastic Electron Scattering Form Factors of Some Exotic Nuclei (17B, 11Li, 8He)

open access: yesIraqi Journal of Physics, 2021
The two-neutron halo-nuclei (17B, 11Li, 8He) was investigated using a two-body nucleon density distribution (2BNDD) with two frequency shell model (TFSM).

A Functional Interpolation Approach to Compute Periodic Orbits in the Circular-Restricted Three-Body Problem

open access: yesMathematics, 2021
In this paper, we develop a method to solve for periodic orbits, i.e., Lyapunov and Halo orbits, using a functional interpolation scheme called the Theory of Functional Connections (TFC).

Revealing the Network of Periodic Orbits in Galaxy Models with a Prolate or an Oblate Dark Matter Halo Component

open access: yesOpen Astronomy, 2016
Locating the position of periodic orbits in galaxies is undoubtedly an issue of paramount importance. We reveal the position and the stability of periodic orbits of stars moving in the meridional plane (R, z) of an axially symmetric galactic model with a

Orbital parameters of merging dark matter halos [PDF]

open access: yesAstronomy & Astrophysics, 2005
In order to specify cosmologically motivated initial conditions for major galaxy mergers (mass ratios $\leq$ 4:1) that are supposed to explain the formation of elliptical galaxies we study the orbital parameters of major mergers of cold dark matter halos using a high-resolution cosmological simulation. Almost half of all encounters are nearly parabolic

Fully Autonomous Orbit Determination and Synchronization for Satellite Navigation and Communication Systems in Halo Orbits

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2023
This paper presents a solution for autonomous orbit determination and time synchronization of spacecraft in Halo orbits around Lagrange points using inter-satellite links.

Modeling Halo Orbits and the Associated Manifolds in the Restricted Three Body Problem [PDF]

open access: yesفصلنامه علوم و فناوری فضایی, 2010
Development of halo orbits and their associated invariant manifolds are investigated. Halo orbits play a fundamental role in complex space mission designs.

How does the Structure of Spherical Dark Matter Haloes Affect the Types of Orbits in Disk Galaxies?

open access: yesOpen Astronomy, 2014
The main objective of this work is to determine the character of orbits of stars moving in the meridional (R, z) plane of an axially symmetric time-independent disk galaxy model with a central massive nucleus and an additional spherical dark matter halo ...
