Exercise Capacity, Physical Activity, Fatigue, and Neurocognitive Function in Adult Survivors of Childhood Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Adult survivors of childhood acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) are at risk of reduced exercise capacity, decreased physical activity levels, persistent fatigue, and neurocognitive deficits. The aim was to investigate exercise capacity and physical activity levels of adult survivors of childhood ALL and their associations with ...

Gravitational waveforms from periodic orbits around a Schwarzschild black hole embedded in a Dehnen-type dark matter halo

open access: yesEuropean Physical Journal C: Particles and Fields
In this paper, we study the periodic orbits, characterized by zoom-whirl behavior, around a Schwarzschild-like black hole (BH) embedded within a Dehnen-type dark matter (DM) halo.

Some Photometric Characteristics of Population II Orbital Visual Binary Stars

open access: yesOpen Astronomy, 2003
A MV ,B−V diagram for metal-deficient, kinematically selected thick disk and halo visual binary stars with known orbits is presented. The magnitude differences Δm between the components are analyzed.

Orbits, Orbitals, and Dark Matter Halos: Nature and Relationships

open access: yes, 2022
In this dissertation, we develop two novel methods for studying the nature of the Milky Way's dark matter halo. In both cases, we rely on the relationship between the dark matter halo's gravitational potential and the orbital structure it supports.

Feeding, Fear, and Acceptance: Caregivers’ Experiences of Nutritional Support During Childhood Cancer Treatment

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Purpose To explore caregivers' experiences and perceptions of the nutritional challenges faced by children and adolescents undergoing cancer treatment, including oral intake and the use of nutritional support. Methods This was a qualitative study based on focus groups with parents and caregivers at a Brazilian pediatric oncology hospital ...

The Stellar Halo of the Galaxy is Tilted and Doubly Broken

open access: yesThe Astronomical Journal, 2022
Modern Galactic surveys have revealed an ancient merger that dominates the stellar halo of our galaxy (Gaia–Sausage–Enceladus, GSE). Using chemical abundances and kinematics from the H3 Survey, we identify 5559 halo stars from this merger in the radial ...

On Universal Halos and the Radial Orbit Instability [PDF]

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 2006
The radial orbit instability drives dark matter halos toward a universal structure. This conclusion, first noted by Huss, Jain, and Steinmetz, is explored in detail through a series of numerical experiments involving the collapse of an isolated halo into the non-linear regime.

Septin 9 PB domains coordinate centrosome positioning and microtubule acetylation to control epithelial polarity

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Septin 9 polybasic domains couple phosphoinositide‐rich membrane binding to centrosome positioning, Golgi organization, and microtubule acetylation to control epithelial polarity. Their loss disrupts this axis, causing centrosome mispositioning, Golgi fragmentation, reduced microtubule acetylation, and polarity inversion via upregulation of the ...

Optimal Transfers from the L1 Halo Orbit of the Earth–Moon System to Earth

open access: yesSpace: Science & Technology
Designing direct-return orbits from the Earth–Moon space to Earth’s surface is critical for manned lunar missions and emergency returns. This paper investigates optimal transfer solutions from a halo orbit around the Earth–Moon L1 libration point to an ...

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.
