Halogen−Halogen Interactions in Halomethanes
The Journal of Organic Chemistry, 2002We report the study of the electronic structure of CHFI(2), CHBrI(2), CHBr(2)I, CHClI(2), and CHCl(2)I using VUV photoelectron spectroscopy (UPS). The lone pair orbital interactions are discussed on the basis of experimental results and comparisons with other halomethanes.

Halogen⋯Halogen Interactions: Nature, Directionality and Applications
Chemistry – An Asian Journal, 2023AbstractHalogen⋯halogen interaction is a highly debated and important topic in crystal engineering and supramolecular chemistry. There are controversies about the nature and geometry of these interactions. F, Cl, Br and I are the four halogens involved in these interactions. Very often the lighter and the heavier halogens behave differently. The nature

AbstractWithin the past twenty years, while much of the research and development appeal in the halogenation of fats and fatty derivatives has been associated with the evolution of new and useful derivatives such as arthritis cures and artificial rubber plasticizers, the principal utility of the halogenated fats still continues to be in the production ...

Halogen–halogen interactions and halogen bonding in thiacalixarene systems
CrystEngComm, 20145,11,17,23-tetraiodo-25,26,27,28-tetrapropoxythiacalix[4]arene exhibited I⋯I interactions which are ca. 2% shorter than the sum of their respective van der Waals atomic radii. 5,11,17,23-tetraiodo-25,26,27,28-tetrabutoxythiacalix[4]arene were identified to have S⋯I interactions that are ca.

Synthon crossover between halogen⋯π and halogen⋯halogen interaction
CrystEngComm, 2014The synthon crossover between the halogen⋯π interaction and halogen bonding in a series of N-(4-halophenyl)-2-naphthamide and N-(4-halophenyl)quinoline-2-carboxamide has been investigated by different methods. The results indicate that the heteroatom substitution in the aromatic ring leads to a change in the iodine bonding acceptor site from the iodine

A large number of halogenated organics have been produced commercially in the past few decades, which have been used for a variety of purposes. The quest for enviromentally friendly technology in general has risen to a substantial thrust to get away from chlorocarbons and halogenated materials altogether, due to the generic deleteriousness associated ...
