X chromosome aneuploidies and schizophrenia: association analysis and phenotypic characterization

open access: yesPsychiatry and Clinical Neurosciences, Volume 76, Issue 12, Page 667-673, December 2022., 2022
Aim The aims of the present study were: (i) to examine the association between schizophrenia (SCZ) and 47, XXY or 47, XXX in a large case–control sample; and (ii) to characterize the clinical features of patients with SCZ with these X chromosome aneuploidies.

Haloperidol versus first-generation antipsychotics for the treatment of schizophrenia and other psychotic disorders.

open access: yesCochrane Database of Systematic Reviews, 2015
BACKGROUND Haloperidol is worldwide one of the most frequently used antipsychotic drugs with a very high market share. Previous narrative, unsystematic reviews found no differences in terms of efficacy between the various first-generation ("conventional",

In vivo toxic and lethal cardiorespiratory effects of a synthetic quaternary ammonium salt derivative of haloperidol in mice

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, EarlyView.
Hematoxylin–eosin (H&E) stains of the heart, liver, lung, and kidney show acute toxicity. Abstract Background To investigate the toxicity of N‐n‐butyl haloperidol iodide (F2), a quaternary ammonium salt derivative of haloperidol, in mice for potential therapeutic purposes. Methods The acute median lethal dose (LD50) of F2 was determined using the Bliss

Silylation of Aryl and Alkyl Chlorides by a Seven‐Membered Dialkoxysilyl Group Si(pan)Me via an In Situ Generated Silylpotassium

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie International Edition, EarlyView.
This study reveals a facile silylation protocol that enables the delivery of a stable and activatable dioxasilepanyl group, Si(pan)Me, to aryl and alkyl chlorides. Of note is the X‐ray structure of 18‐C‐6·K–Si(pan)Me, which elucidates a pivotal silylpotassium intermediate.

Antidepressant-like Effects of Neuropeptide SF (NPSF) [PDF]

open access: yesWorld Journal of Research and Review (WJRR) ISSN:2455-3956, Volume-4, Issue-5, May 2017 Pages 26-30, 2020
Neuropeptide SF (NPSF) is a member of RFamide neuropeptides that play diverse roles in central nervous system. Little is know about the effects of NPSF on brain functions. Antidepressant-like effect of NPSF was studied in modified mice FST. NPSF showed the antidepressant-like effects by decreasing the immobility time and increasing the climbing and ...

Beneficial effect of candesartan and lisinopril against haloperidol-induced tardive dyskinesia in rat

open access: yesJournal of the Renin-Angiotensin-Aldosterone System, 2015
Introduction: Tardive dyskinesia is a serious motor disorder of the orofacial region, resulting from chronic neuroleptic treatment of schizophrenia. Candesartan (AT1 antagonist) and lisinopril (ACE inhibitor) has been reported to possess antioxidant and ...

Deciphering the skeletal interoceptive circuitry to control bone homeostasis

open access: yesBMEMat, EarlyView.
This review introduces the skeletal interoceptive circuitry, covering the ascending signals from bone tissues to the brain (sensors), the central neural circuits that integrate this information and dispatch commands (CPU), and the descending pathways that regulate bone homeostasis (effectors).

Comparison of intramuscular haloperidol and other short-acting injectable antipsychotics for management of acute agitation in an adult inpatient psychiatry unit [PDF]

open access: yesMental Health Clinician
Introduction There is no consensus on the optimal antipsychotic for acute agitation. Whereas haloperidol is frequently used and has proven efficacy, second generation antipsychotics show similar efficacy and improved safety and tolerability.
