Halothane induced hepatitis: Case report
Halothane as a cause of hepatitis is rare and may be overlooked when evaluating a patient with sudden onset jaundice. A 34-year-old lady, a nurse, presented to the liver clinic with sudden onset non - pruritic jaundice.

Low dose isoflurane exerts opposing effects on neuronal network excitability in neocortex and hippocampus. [PDF]
The anesthetic excitement phase occurring during induction of anesthesia with volatile anesthetics is a well-known phenomenon in clinical practice. However, the physiological mechanisms underlying anesthetic-induced excitation are still unclear.

Abstract Background Intraoperative haemorrhage during equine anaesthesia is a rare but potentially fatal complication requiring prompt haemodynamic support. Postural manoeuvres such as Trendelenburg (TL) positioning and vasopressor support augment venous return and improve cardiac output (CO), yet their efficacy in anaesthetised hypovolemic horses ...

Uptake and distribution of halothane in dog blood
The uptake and distribution of halothane in dog blood were studied by analysing the whole blood and plasma concentrations of halothane in samples of arterial and mixed venous blood at different times after the induction of anesthesia with constant ...

The ATP-Sensitive Potassium Channel Opener Alters MAC for Halothane but not for Isoflurane in Dogs [PDF]
Volatile anesthetics would exert their effects by acting at specific target proteins in the central nervous system. Neuronal membrane hyperpolarization brought about by increased potassium channel conductance is hypothesized to contribute to a mechanism ...

Fulminant Hepatic Failure Caused by Halothane Narcosis
A case of fulminant hepatic failure (FHF) caused by multiple exposure to halothane hepatitis is described in an 11-year-old child. The major clinical and laboratory symptoms that can optimize the postoperative diagnosis of FHF are depicted.
