PU.1 and TGF‐β signaling activate the cell‐surface expression of CD103 in mast cells and dendritic cells: opposite roles of GATA2 in the expression of mucosal mast cell genes

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
Mucosal mast cells (MMCs) are distinguished from connective tissue MCs by the specific cell‐surface expression of integrin CD103 (αE/β7) and proteases Mcpt1 and Mcpt2. Expression of the Itgae gene (encoding αE) in MMCs is positively regulated by PU.1 and TGF‐β signaling.

Innate Immune Activation Is a Strong Suppressor of CCL22 and Impedes Regulatory T Cell–Dendritic Cell Interaction

open access: yesImmunology, EarlyView.
During homeostasis, CCL22 is secreted by dendritic cells (DC), which mediate contacts between regulatory T cells (Treg) and DC to maintain immune balance. Activation of innate immunity via microbes or pattern recognition receptor (PRR) agonists induces the secretion of several soluble factors (e.g., type I and II interferons, IL‐10), which mediate ...

With or without you: Family and Career‐Work in a Demanding and Precarious Profession

open access: yesJournal of Management Studies, EarlyView.
Abstract Family arrangements are crucial to people's abilities to meet the high demands of professional careers; but most scholarship has examined stable, highly remunerated professions. To understand the relationship between career and family within the increasing number of precarious professions, we analyse interviews with 102 journalists.
