Abstract Pregnant hamsters were given 4 or 6 mg per kg crystalline aflatoxin B 1 by i.p. injection on days 8 and 9 of pregnancy. Foetuses were examined for gross and/or histological lesions on days 11 and 15. Aflatoxin, at both doses, caused primarily foetal growth retardation.

Transplantation of hamster buccal pouch carcinoma to neonatal hamsters

Epidermoid carcinomas of oral mucosa were induced with DMBA in the buccal pouches of hamsters. The well-differentiated primary tumors were allografted into the peritoneal cavities of neonatal hamsters that had been treated with antilymphocyte serum. Solid tumors grew rapidly in the peritoneum and were harvested 6 to 31 days postimplantation.
