Formaldehyde Emissions From 2‐Octyl Cyanoacrylate: Quantified Risk for Allergic Contact Dermatitis
This study found that 2‐octyl cyanoacrylate skin adhesives release formaldehyde at levels up to 8.4× above EPA dermal thresholds and up to 2.41× above NIOSH airborne limits, producing exposures sufficient to provoke allergic and irritant contact dermatitis in patients.

Vaccines against drugs of abuse have induced antibodies in animals that blocked the biological effects of the drug by sequestering the drug in the blood and preventing it from crossing the blood-brain barrier.

Gamma delta T cells recognize haptens and mount a hapten-specific response
The ability to recognize small organic molecules and chemical modifications of host molecules is an essential capability of the adaptive immune system, which until now was thought to be mediated mainly by B cell antigen receptors.

Generation of hapten-specific recombinant antibodies: antibody phage display technology: a review
Production of antibodies has been revolutionized by the development of modern molecular biology methods for the expression of recombinant DNA. Phage display technology represents one of the most powerful tools for production and selection of recombinant ...

Does hapten exposure predispose to atopic disease? The hapten-atopy hypothesis
Contact allergy data indicates that atopics have heightened oral tolerance to haptens (chemical allergens). We speculate here, that artificially increased oral exposure to chemicals compete with dietary proteins for the development of oral tolerance ...

Investigating Hapten Clustering as a Strategy to Enhance Vaccines against Drugs of Abuse
Vaccines for drugs of abuse have yet to achieve full clinical relevance, largely due to poor/inconsistent immune responses in patients. The use of multivalent scaffolding as a means to tailor drug–hapten density and clustering was examined in the context

Allergic contact dermatitis is the most prevalent form of human immunotoxicity. It is caused by reactive low molecular weight chemicals, that is, haptens, coming in contact with the skin where hapten−peptide complexes are formed, activating the immune ...
