This perspective highlights emerging insights into how the circadian transcription factor CLOCK:BMAL1 regulates chromatin architecture, cooperates with other transcription factors, and coordinates enhancer dynamics. We propose an updated framework for how circadian transcription factors operate within dynamic and multifactorial chromatin landscapes ...

Hard excitation mode of a system with optomechanical instability
Systems with strong photon–phonon interaction and optomechanical instability are perspective for the generation of coherent phonons and photons. We predict the existence of a hard mode of excitation in such systems when a jump-like increase in the photon intensity takes place at the generation threshold.

Isolated pairs of Majorana zero modes in a disordered superconducting lead monolayer
Majorana zero modes are fractional quantum excitations appearing in pairs, each pair being a building block for quantum computation . Some possible signatures of these excitations have been reported as zero bias peaks at endpoints of one-dimensional ...

Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

Time after time – circadian clocks through the lens of oscillator theory
Oscillator theory bridges physics and circadian biology. Damped oscillators require external drivers, while limit cycles emerge from delayed feedback and nonlinearities. Coupling enables tissue‐level coherence, and entrainment aligns internal clocks with environmental cues.
