Time-Efficient Hardware-in-the-Loop Aerodynamic Optimization [PDF]

open access: possibleJournal of Aerospace Engineering
A hardware-in-the-loop system was created for the purpose of aerodynamic optimization. The system was used for fully independent optimization of an automotive diffuser model in a wind tunnel, with linear actuators used to modify the geometry. The model had three degrees of freedom with 7×105 possible configurations.

Hardware-in-the-Loop Evolution of a 3-bit Multiplier

12th Annual IEEE Symposium on Field-Programmable Custom Computing Machines, 2004
In this paper, we focus on evolving a 3-bit multiplier from scratch. This method assume a dual-redundant FPGA system whereby the faulty FPGA undergoes evolution to recover its functionality, while the redundant FPGA maintains proper functionality during an evolution of the faulty FPGA.

Hardware-in-the-loop simulation of Android GPGPU applications

2014 IEEE 12th Symposium on Embedded Systems for Real-time Multimedia (ESTIMedia), 2014
Emerging mobile devices are likely to adopt CPU-GPU heterogeneous architecture where an embedded GPU executes offloaded computations from the CPU as well as rendering tasks. For design space exploration of such a CPU-GPU heterogeneous architecture at the early design stage or for monitoring the dynamic system behavior of a system, it is very desirable ...

Fault Simulator Based on a Hardware-in-the-Loop Technique

IEEE Transactions on Systems, Man, and Cybernetics, Part C (Applications and Reviews), 2012
Among motor faults, bearing, rotator, and stator failures are the most commonly reported. Because of the low-amplitude fault signatures in the current spectrum, they are also the most challenging to diagnose, even in line-driven motors. However, a fault simulator of induction motors has not been adequately investigated in the literature. The purpose of

Analysis of robotic hardware-in-the-loop simulation architecture

2007 IEEE/RSJ International Conference on Intelligent Robots and Systems, 2007
An architecture for robotic hardware-in-the- loop simulation (RHILS) has been proposed as a design and simulation tool for serial-link robot manipulators. This paper evaluates the RHILS platform's capabilities when applied to the simulation of the 5-d.o.f. CRS CataLyst-5 industrial manipulator from Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc.

Design and Development of Robotic Hardware-in-the-Loop Simulation

2006 9th International Conference on Control, Automation, Robotics and Vision, 2006
This paper details the design and development of a robotic hardware-in-the-loop simulation platform that can be used for rapid-prototyping industrial manipulators. The architecture of the proposed platform has been presented by Martin and Emami (2006). Potential benefits of such a platform include allowing concurrent development of hardware and control

A hardware-in-the-loop test rig for aerial manipulation

2013 International Conference on Unmanned Aircraft Systems (ICUAS), 2013
A hardware-in-the-loop test rig is presented to bridge the gap between basic aerial manipulation research and the ability of flying robots to perform tasks such as door opening, bridge repair, agriculture care, and other applications requiring interaction with the environment.

A hardware in the loop emulator for a satellite control system

International Journal of Embedded Systems, 2018
Design and testing of algorithms for satellite attitude control is not an easy task. Once the system is deployed (the satellite is launched), there is no room for error or system modifications. That, of course, requires extensive testing and simulation before deployment. However, simulation can not capture all aspects of system operation.

Hardware in the loop simulation of production systems dynamics

Production Engineering, 2011
Constantly growing competitive pressure forces machine and plant manufacturers to find new innovative ways to reduce the development costs as well as to increase the quality. In order to achieve these goals, simulation tools are used in many phases of the development process.

Hardware-in-the-Loop (HiL)-Kopplung

2017
