Spin‐Orbit Torque Induced by Switchable Crystal Inversion Symmetry Breaking
An exotic crystal inversion symmetry breaking in SrRuO3/BiFeO3 heterostructure is revealed, and it can be reversibly manipulated by the ferroelectric polarization of BiFeO3. This crystal inversion symmetry breaking can dramatically enhance the spin‐orbit torque efficiency in the SrRuO3 layer by more than 60%, providing an alternative to design an ...

We demonstrate passive harmonic mode-locking of a quantum well laser diode designed to support a discrete comb of Fabry-Perot modes. Spectral filtering of the mode spectrum was achieved using a non-periodic patterning of the cavity effective index.

Transducers convert physical signals into electrical and optical representations, yet each mechanism is bounded by intrinsic trade‐offs across bandwidth, sensitivity, speed, and energy. This review maps transduction mechanisms across physical scale and frequency, showing how heterogeneous integration and multiphysics co‐design transform isolated ...

Pulse dropout in harmonically mode-locked fiber lasers [PDF]
We have studied theoretically and experimentally supermode competition in an actively mode-locked Er-fiber laser that operates in a high harmonic mode. Using an innovative numerical technique that allows us to properly account for the complex interaction of multiple pulses with the gain media, we could study the dynamics that leads to supermode ...

Magnetic Textiles: A Review of Materials, Fabrication, Properties, and Applications
Magnetic textiles (M‐textiles) are emerging as a programmable materials platform that merges magnetic matter with hierarchical textile structures. This article consolidates magnetic material classes, textile architectures, and fabrication and magnetization strategies, revealing structure–property–function relationships that govern magneto‐mechanical ...

Q-Switched High-Order Harmonic Mode-Locked Noise-like Pulses in an Erbium/Ytterbium Fiber Laser
This work presents, to the best of our knowledge, the first experimental report of an erbium/ytterbium double-clad ring fiber laser based on nonlinear polarization rotation (NPR) operating in a self-starting Q-switched high-order harmonic mode locking ...

The Characteristics and Locking Process of Nonlinear MEMS Gyroscopes
With the miniaturization of micro-electro-mechanical system (MEMS) gyroscopes, it is necessary to study their nonlinearity. The phase-frequency characteristics, which affect the start-up time, are crucial for guaranteeing the gyroscopes’ ...
