Cinnamic‐hydroxamic‐acid derivatives (CHADs) are identified as novel inhibitors of the bacterial nucleoid‐associated protein HU, exhibiting potent antibacterial, anti‐biofilm (both inhibition and eradication), and DNA relaxation (anti‐supercoiling) activities. Moreover, CHADs demonstrate strong synergistic effects with multiple antibiotics.

Histone deacetylase activity is decreased in peripheral blood monocytes in patients with COPD
Background Histone deacetylase (HDAC) is an enzyme that regulates chromatin structure and inflammatory gene expression. In patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), while accumulating evidence indicates that the activity of HDAC is ...

The Nyquist criterion: a useful tool for the robust design of continuous-time ΣΔ modulators [PDF]
This paper introduces a figure of merit for the robustness of continuous-time sigma-delta modulators. It is based on the Nyquist criterion for the equivalent discrete-time (DT) loop filter.

The new age of social networking has taught us that a lot can be inferred about you and me just based on our ‘friendship network'. Biochemists have been exploiting this approach for years when trying to discover the functional roles of proteins. Protein–protein interactions are the basis for the diverse cellular functionality that builds a living ...

Discovery of a Novel DNMT1 Inhibitor with Improved Efficacy in Treating β‐Thalassemia
Context of Research: β‐thalassemia affects millions worldwide. DNMT inhibitors are effective HbF‐inducers that benefit patients with β‐thalassemia. Existing DNMT inhibitors are not approved for β‐thalassemia treatment due to dose‐limiting toxicity. What We Find: DMT207 traps DNMT1 into helix‐kinked inactive conformation and enhances its interaction with

Material‐Induced Nuclear Deformation Controls Chromatin Architecture in Adipose Stem Cells
Tuning cell and cytoskeleton mechanics modulated nuclear shape and heterochromatin organization in ASCs. Distinct cytoskeletal architectures induced nuclear morphologies from oblate to prolate ellipsoids. Large elongated cells with a structured actin cap exhibited high nuclear strain, driving nuclear envelope deformation and heterochromatin ...

Histone deacetylases (HDACs) have been associated with human malignant tumor development and progression, and HDAC inhibitors are currently being explored as anticancer agents in clinical trials. The present study aimed to evaluate the clinical significance of HDAC-1, HDAC-2, HDAC-4, and HDAC-6 proteins' expression in human malignant and benign thyroid
