Topology of the Galaxy Distribution in the Hubble Deep Fields

open access: yes, 2000
We have studied topology of the distribution of the high redshift galaxies identified in the Hubble Deep Field (HDF) North and South. The two-dimensional genus is measured from the projected distributions of the HDF galaxies at angular scales from $3.8''$

Droplet Electricity Generators With Maximized Energy Collection Zone Enabled by Aloe‐Inspired Midrib and Cuticle

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
An Aloe‐pinspired droplet electricity generator (A‐DEG) overcomes the limited energy collection zone of conventional DEGs by guiding impact droplets through a channeling midrib and artificial cuticle. The channeling midrib induces uni‐directional droplet spreading, while the artificial cuticle on the midrib further reinforces this behavior through its ...

Radical‐Mediated, Substrate‐Independent Fabrication of Hybrid Solid–Hydrogel Materials With Tunable Crosslinking: An Initiator‐ and Crosslinker‐Free Approach

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This work introduces a substrate‐independent, reagent‐free plasma strategy that forms radical‐rich interlayers for covalent hydrogel attachment without initiators or crosslinkers. The long‐lived radicals drive in situ gelation, creating robust, cytocompatible hybrid solid–hydrogel constructs across diverse substrates.

Bovine vitreous gel can reactivate replicative senescence of human dermal fibroblast

open access: yesIndonesian Journal of Biotechnology, 2018
The most influential factor in the poor healing of chronic ulcers is replicative senescence of fibroblasts that are unresponsive to TGF-β1 stimulation.

HDF promise for the future [PDF]

open access: yesNephrology Dialysis Transplantation, 2008
Sir, The February issue of Nephrology Dialysis Transplantation amply reported on online haemodiafiltration (HDF) as a possible promise for the future [1]. Please note the following erratum in Table 1 of the Editorial Comment, concerning our study with reference 16: high-volume HDF in postdilution was compared with high-flux haemodialysis (hfHD ...

Direct Measurements of the Stellar Continua and Balmer/4000 Angstrom Breaks of Red z>2 Galaxies: Redshifts and Improved Constraints on Stellar Populations

open access: yes, 2006
We use near-infrared (NIR) spectroscopy obtained with GNIRS on Gemini, NIRSPEC on KECK, and ISAAC on the VLT to study the rest-frame optical continua of three `Distant Red Galaxies' (having Js - Ks > 2.3) at z>2.

Haplotype‐Resolved 3D Genomic Landscapes and Their Impacts on Agronomic Traits in Grapevine

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study presents a haplotype‐resolved 3D genomic landscape of grapevine, revealing that structural variations (SVs) are closely associated with phased topologically associating domain (TAD) boundary transitions. These rearrangements coordinate with allele‐specific DNA methylation (ASM) and allele‐biased gene expression (ASE) to shape key agronomic ...

A Portable and Dual‐Button Microneedle Device Enables Intelligent Multimodal Laser Sensing

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A portable and dual‐button microneedle device enables rapid interstitial fluid sampling. Coupled with multimodal laser sensing and AI‐assisted data processing, the platform enables simultaneous molecular and elemental analysis for minimally invasive and multiplexed health assessment toward point‐of‐care diagnostics.

NICMOS observations of the HDF [PDF]

open access: yesThe 9th astrophysics conference: After the dark ages, when galaxies were young (the Universe at 2<Z<5), 1999
This paper presents initial results and performance levels from the Near Infrared Camera and Multi-Object Spectrometer (NICMOS) observations of the Hubble Deep Field (HDF). These observations represent the deepest view of individual objects yet obtained with photometric colors of some objects indicating redshift values greater than 6.

Fast Data in the Era of Big Data: Twitter's Real-Time Related Query Suggestion Architecture [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
We present the architecture behind Twitter's real-time related query suggestion and spelling correction service. Although these tasks have received much attention in the web search literature, the Twitter context introduces a real-time "twist": after ...
