Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Analysis of Unmanned Surface Vehicles Heading KF-Based PI-(1+PI) Controller Using Improved Spider Wasp Optimizer

open access: yesDrones
This paper proposes a Kalman filter-based cascaded PI-(1+PI) controller, optimized using an Improved Spider Wasp Optimizer (ISWO), to address the challenges of USV heading control in dynamic marine environments.

Modified Kalman filter-based model predictive control for ship heading control with probabilistic constraints

open access: yesSystems Science & Control Engineering, 2021
In this paper, the Modified Kalman Filter-Based Model Predictive Control (Modified MPC-KF) algorithm is proposed to solve the ship heading control problem by considering the presence of noise in the system.

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

On an alternative to long A´-movement in German and Dutch [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
This paper provides an analysis of an alternative strategy to A´-movement in both German and Dutch where the extracted constituent is preceded by a preposition and a coreferential pronoun appears in the extraction site. The construction has properties of

Head Motion and Head Gesture-Based Robot Control: A Usability Study

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Neural Systems and Rehabilitation Engineering, 2018
The assistive robot system adaptive head motion control for user-friendly support (AMiCUS) has been developed to increase the autonomy of motion impaired people. The six degrees of freedom robot arm with gripper is controlled with head motion and head gestures only, so especially tetraplegics benefit from collaboration with AMiCUS.
