Tryptophan metabolite atlas uncovers organ, age, and sex‐specific variations

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Tryptophan metabolites were analyzed across twelve organs, the central nervous system, and serum in male and female mice at three life stages. We found tissue‐, sex‐, and age‐specific differences, including increased indole‐3‐pyruvate and kynurenine in aging males.

Gap junction reduction in cardiomyocytes following transforming growth factor- beta treatment and Trypanosoma cruzi infection [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Gap junction connexin-43 (Cx43) molecules are responsible for electrical impulse conduction in the heart and are affected by transforming growth factor-beta (TGF-beta).

Cloning, expression, purification, and structural modeling of the Chandipura virus matrix protein

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This research protocol offers a guide for the cloning, expression, and purification of the Chandipura virus matrix protein using E. coli. It also includes a step‐by‐step procedure for cloning, expressing, and conducting fluorescence imaging of GFP‐fused Chandipura virus matrix protein in mammalian cell lines.

Electrophysiological Mechanisms of Atrial Flutter [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Atrial flutter (AFL) is a common arrhythmia in clinical practice. Several experimental models such as tricuspid regurgitation model, tricuspid ring model, sterile pericarditis model and atrial crush injury model have provided important information about

Congenital and childhood atrioventricular blocks: pathophysiology and contemporary management [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Atrioventricular block is classified as congeni- tal if diagnosed in utero, at birth, or within the first month of life. The pathophysiological process is believed to be due to immune-mediated injury of the conduction system, which occurs as a result

Molecular determinants of signal transduction in tropomyosin receptor kinases

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Tropomyosin receptor kinases control critical neuronal functions, but how do the same receptors produce diverse cellular responses? This review explores the structural mechanisms behind Trk signaling diversity, focusing on allosteric modulation and ligand bias.

ATG4B is required for mTORC1‐mediated anabolic activity and is associated with clinical outcomes in non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The relationship between anabolic and catabolic processes governing lung cancer cell growth is nuanced. We show that ATG4B, an autophagy regulator, is elevated in lung cancer and that high ATG4B is associated with worse patient outcomes. Targeting ATG4B in cells reduces growth, protein synthesis, and mTORC1 activity, demonstrating a new relationship ...
