Prognosis of Long‐Term Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy and the Impact of Combined Continuous Intravenous Sodium Infusion Therapy

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Patients requiring long‐term continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT) generally have poor prognoses. This study evaluated whether adding continuous intravenous sodium infusion (cIVNa) is associated with improved hemodynamics and outcomes in patients undergoing long‐term CRRT for ≥ 7 days.

Radiofrequency ablation of anteroseptal accessory pathway: A challenge to the electrophysiologist [PDF]

open access: yesVojnosanitetski Pregled, 2015
Introduction. Anteroseptal accessory pathways (APs) are located in the apex of the triangle of Koch’s connecting the atrial and ventricular septum in the region of the His bundle. Ablation of anteroseptal pathway locations remains a challenge to

Patterning and Development of the Conduction System of the Heart

open access: yes, 2010
This chapter focuses on the cellular origin of the conduction system components and the molecular genetic mechanisms that may control their phenotype and position within the developing heart. It discusses the connection between heart cell precursor pools,

Identification of cis-regulatory modules in mouse embryonic limb buds and heart using endogenous epitope-tagged transcription factors [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
The genes that control mouse embryonic development are tightly regulated spatially and temporally by the integration of various signaling pathways. The interaction of downstream transcription factors with cis-regulatory modules located in the genomic ...

The intrinsic cardiac nervous system and its role in cardiac pacemaking and conduction [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
The cardiac autonomic nervous system (CANS) plays a key role for the regulation of cardiac activity with its dysregulation being involved in various heart diseases, such as cardiac arrhythmias.

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Real-Time In Vivo Imaging of Mouse Left Ventricle Reveals Fluctuating Movements of the Intercalated Discs

open access: yesNanomaterials, 2020
Myocardial contraction is initiated by action potential propagation through the conduction system of the heart. It has been thought that connexin 43 in the gap junctions (GJ) within the intercalated disc (ID) provides direct electric connectivity between

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.
