Heterozygous loss‐of‐function alleles associate the conserved 3′‐5′ exoribonuclease EXOSC10 with hypersensitivity to the anticancer drug 5‐fluorouracil

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
EXOSC10, an essential nuclear RNA exosome‐associated 3′‐5′ exoribonuclease, is inhibited by the anticancer drug 5‐fluorouracil (5‐FU), and EXOSC10 depletion increases 5‐FU sensitivity. The colon‐cancer variant EXOSC10S402T, located in a proteolysis motif, is stable and nuclear but nonfunctional in vivo.

Post-transcriptional regulation of the trypanosome heat shock response by a zinc finger protein. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS Pathogens, 2013
In most organisms, the heat-shock response involves increased heat-shock gene transcription. In Kinetoplastid protists, however, virtually all control of gene expression is post-transcriptional.

Effectiveness of Insulin Transferrin Selenium Supplementation to Vitrified Mice Using Hemi Straw on Zona Hardening, Expression of Heat Shock Protein 70 and Caspase 3 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Addition of Insulin Transferrin Selenium in vitrification medium can scavenge free radicals caused by temperatures stressors due to the freezing. Insulin Transferrin Selenium is complex protein that can stimulate cell growth, prevent cell damage due to ...

ZW4864‐mediated inhibition of the β‐catenin/BCL9/BCL9L complex reveals therapeutic potential in bladder cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
BCL9 and BCL9L drive bladder cancer progression by enhancing β‐catenin signaling, promoting proliferation, migration, invasion, and organoid growth. Genetic depletion of BCL9(L) suppresses malignant phenotypes, while pharmacological disruption of the β‐catenin/BCL9(L) complex with ZW4864 inhibits canonical Wnt signaling and tumor‐associated cellular ...

Small interfering RNA mediated Poly (ADP-ribose) Polymerase-1 inhibition upregulates the heat shock response in a murine fibroblast cell line

open access: yesJournal of Inflammation, 2011
Poly (ADP-ribose) polymerase-1 (PARP-1) is a highly conserved multifunctional enzyme, and its catalytic activity is stimulated by DNA breaks. The activation of PARP-1 and subsequent depletion of nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD+) and adenosine ...

Promiscuous stimulation of HSP70 ATPase activity by parasite‐derived J‐domains

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The malaria parasite Plasmodium falciparum exports three highly homologous yet functionally divergent J‐domain proteins into human erythrocytes. Here, we show that J‐domains isolated from all three proteins effectively stimulate the ATPase activity of both endogenous host and exported parasite HSP70 chaperones.

Diagnostic Value of Serum Heat Shock Protein 70 in Hepatocellular Carcinoma Patients [PDF]

open access: yesAfro-Egyptian Journal of Infectious and Endemic Diseases, 2019
Background and study aim: Hepato-cellular carcinoma (HCC) is the commonest essential hepatic threat among adult. Nowadays, the HCC determination without obsessive relationship is done by imaging methods.

The maximal cytoprotective function of the heat shock protein 27 is dependent on heat shock protein 70

open access: yesBiochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Molecular Cell Research, 2011
Endogenous heat shock proteins (HSPs) 70 and 25/27 are induced in renal cells by injury from energy depletion. Transfected over-expression of HSPs 70 or 27 (human analogue of HSP25), provide protection against renal cell injury from ATP deprivation. This study examines whether over-expressed HSP27 depends on induction of endogenous HSPs, in particular ...

Molecular characterization of covRS mutations in M1UK Streptococcus pyogenes

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Group A Streptococcus (GAS) acquires covRS mutations driving a hypervirulent bacterial state, frequently associated with invasive disease‐like necrotizing fasciitis. We demonstrate that the newly emerged M1UK GAS lineage can also acquire these mutations.

Induction of heat shock protein 70 in failing heart.

open access: yesFolia Pharmacologica Japonica, 2004
Heat shock protein (Hsp) 70s including Hsp72 and Hsp73 are suggested to play an important role in the cardioprotection against stress-induced functional damage. Myocardial tolerance against ischemia/reperfusion injury is increased when myocardial Hsp72 is accumulated after an exposure of normal animals to heat shock.
