Plasma lipidomic and metabolomic profiles in high‐grade glioma patients before and after 72‐h presurgery water‐only fasting

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Presurgery 72‐h fasting in GB patients leads to adaptations of plasma lipids and polar metabolites. Fasting reduces lysophosphatidylcholines and increases free fatty acids, shifts triglycerides toward long‐chain TGs and increases branched‐chain amino acids, alpha aminobutyric acid, and uric acid.

Some remarks on the model of rigid heat conductor with memory: unbounded heat relaxation function [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
The model of rigid linear heat conductor with memory is reconsidered focussing the interest on the heat relaxation function. Thus, the definitions of heat flux and thermal work are revised to understand where changes are required when the heat flux ...

Wall heat flux measurements in a GO2/GH2 heat-sink combustion chamber

open access: yesJournal of Thermal Science and Technology, 2018
In order to understand heat transfer mechanisms in the combustion chamber with multi-elements injector and provide benchmark data of wall heat fluxes for the CFD code validation, experiments were carried out in a GH2/GO2 heat-sink combustion chamber.

Optimization-based design of a heat flux concentrator [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
To gain control over the diffusive heat flux in a given domain, one needs to engineer a thermal metamaterial with a specific distribution of the generally anisotropic thermal conductivity throughout the domain.

Targeting the MDM2‐MDM4 interaction interface reveals an otherwise therapeutically active wild‐type p53 in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study investigates an alternative approach to reactivating the oncosuppressor p53 in cancer. A short peptide targeting the association of the two p53 inhibitors, MDM2 and MDM4, induces an otherwise therapeutically active p53 with unique features that promote cell death and potentially reduce toxicity towards proliferating nontumor cells.

Breaking the Reynolds Analogy: Decoupling Turbulent Heat and Momentum Transport via Spanwise Wall Oscillation in Wall-Bounded Flow [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
This work investigates spanwise wall oscillation (SWO) as a method to preferentially enhance heat transfer over drag in turbulent channel flow. Direct numerical simulations at $Re_\tau=180$ and $\Pr=1$ show set of wall-oscillation parameters reducing drag also decrease heat transfer similarly, maintaining coupled transport.

Partial radiogenic heat model for Earth revealed by geoneutrino measurements [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The Earth has cooled since its formation, yet the decay of radiogenic isotopes, and in particular uranium, thorium and potassium, in the planet’s interior provides a continuing heat source. The current total heat flux from the Earth to space is 44:2±1.0

Thermal proteome profiling and proteome analysis using high‐definition mass spectrometry demonstrate modulation of cholesterol biosynthesis by next‐generation galeterone analog VNPP433‐3β in castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Elevated level of cholesterol is positively correlated to prostate cancer development and disease severity. Cholesterol‐lowering drugs, such as statins, are demonstrated to inhibit prostate cancer. VNPP433‐3β interrupts multiple signaling and metabolic pathways, including cholesterol biosynthesis, AR‐mediated transcription of several oncogenes, mRNA 5′

Measurement of local high-level, transient surface heat flux [PDF]

open access: yes
This study is part of a continuing investigation to develop methods for measuring local transient surface heat flux. A method is presented for simultaneous measurements of dual heat fluxes at a surface location by considering the heat flux as a separate ...

ShcD adaptor protein drives invasion of triple negative breast cancer cells by aberrant activation of EGFR signaling

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We identified adaptor protein ShcD as upregulated in triple‐negative breast cancer and found its expression to be correlated with reduced patient survival and increased invasion in cell models. Using a proteomic screen, we identified novel ShcD binding partners involved in EGFR signaling pathways.
